Newcastle United look to have finally picked themselves up in the 2025 summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe has seemingly worked hard to strengthen their attacking depth for the 2025/26 season, and it seems like Newcastle have now agreed a deal to sign Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga.
This is after what has been a pretty lengthy transfer saga involving Elanga and Newcastle, with the Magpies having to pay a pretty formidable fee to sign the Swedish winger to add more quality to their wide areas.
How Much Are Newcastle United Paying to Sign Anthony Elanga From Nottingham Forest?
Newcastle have had to work really hard to secure the signing of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.
They reportedly had an initial offer of around £45 million rejected by Nottingham Forest, who did not want to lose out on their winger for so cheap.
However, it’s now being reported that the Magpies have been able to strike an agreement with their fellow Premier League side for the signing of Elanga and are going to be paying a fee of around £52 million plus bonuses to get the deal over the line.
It’s also being claimed that the Swedish winger has also agreed personal terms and will be signing a five-year contract with Newcastle United, who believe that he can strengthen their squad and help them compete strongly in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League as well as the Premier League.
Elanga is being reported to be ready to join his new teammates in the Magpies squad by the end of the week and should be ready to participate in a lengthy pre-season campaign with his new side before the start of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Can He Add More Quality to the Newcastle Squad?
Elanga began his professional career at Manchester United, but it was only at Nottingham Forest that he was able to lift his performances after joining them in 2023.
The 23-year-old is a pretty versatile player who can play just about anywhere across the frontline, but he really thrived in the right wing role for Nottingham Forest in the 2024/25 season.
Elanga scored six goals and provided an impressive 11 assists in the Premier League last season, having the third-most assists for any player in the division behind Mohamed Salah and Jacob Murphy.
In fact, Murphy was the only Newcastle United player with more assists than Elanga in the division. Elanga had nearly double the assists of Anthony Gordon (six) and Alexander Isak (six), and way more assists than the likes of Harvey Barnes (four) and Joe Willock (two).
It wasn’t just about the goals or assists for Elanga, but his overall contribution was often key in driving Nottingham Forest into dangerous attacking areas and sparking key chances.
The 23-year-old winger averaged 3.67 progressive carries and 2.27 progressive passes per 90 minutes last season.
That might not be more than what players like Murphy or Gordon managed. However, Elanga was disciplined with his defensive work as he averaged 0.90 clearances and 0.86 aerials won per 90 minutes last season, proving himself as a real workhorse who is ready to run for his teammates and help out defensively.
Elanga also averaged more shot-creating actions per 90 (3.67) than the likes of Barnes (3.28) and Murphy (3.13) in the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Elanga is blessed with blistering speed that can significantly improve Newcastle’s counter-attacking threat, and he is crisp with his final passes, which can benefit Isak & co.
Elanga will add more variety to the Newcastle United frontline, be a thorn in the counterattacks, and also improve their overall defensive sturdiness to help them put up a tough fight against strong opposition next season.
