Viktor Gyokeres is the hot topic among people interested in transfer news these days with recent links to Arsenal.
The 26-year-old Sporting CP Player from Sweden, who made sporadic appearances in the Premier League for Brighton & Hove Albion a few seasons back and then played in the Championship for Coventry City, is now on the radar of Arsenal for the upcoming season.
Mikel Arteta’s men, who have repeatedly been left frustrated in the race for the Premier League, have lacked a centre-forward of proper quality sorely for the past few seasons.
The likes of Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard, who have both played as the No. 9, cannot be called proper strikers. Mikel Merino has probably been the best of Arsenal’s makeshift No. 9s.
Therefore, the club management has felt the need to buy a quality frontman.

Viktor Gyokeres Has Been Setting the Portuguese Primeira Liga on Fire
Gyokeres just won his second successive Primeira Liga title with Sporting. He has scored a whopping 96 goals in 101 matches for the Portuguese club, which makes him one of the most prolific strikers in European football across the last few seasons.
In fact, his numbers for Sporting resemble those of Erling Haaland for Borussia Dortmund. Haaland scored 86 goals in 89 matches for Dortmund and has since then added 120 goals to his tally in 139 matches for Manchester City.
He has also won a couple of Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League for the Cityzens.
Arteta will sincerely hope that Gyokeres becomes for Arsenal what Haaland has proved to be for Manchester City. The Swede can thus help the Gunners win their first Premier League title in more than two decades.
Gyokeres also has registered 23 assists for Sporting, which goes on to show his utility and versatility as an attacking player.
However, prior to that, the North Londoners will have to ensure his signing. His price tag is estimated to be around 60 million GBP.
That is no small amount, but Arsenal will consider that to be money well spent if Gyokeres can even go close to matching Haaland’s numbers for Manchester City so far.
Manchester United, who are going through a torrid time in domestic football, but might actually play Champions League football next season if they go on to win in the Europa League final next week, might also join the race to sign Gyokeres.
It could turn out to be an interesting battle in that case. However, it can be assumed with a fair amount of certainty that Gyokeres will leave Sporting this summer.
A larger challenge in another country – most probably England – awaits him.
