Aubameyang signs for Arsenal.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been unhappy at Borussia Dortmund since last summer with them reluctant to sell but now they have cashed in on the Gabon striker, signing for Arsenal for a club record fee.
Finally gets his wish
Aubameyang has been consistently known as one of the best strikers in Europe over last few years. Especially with Bourissa Dortmund, consistently winning the Golden boot in Germany.
However, last summer the 28-year-old wanted a move away from Bundesliga with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United interested in signing the prolific striker. But now Aubameyang has got his wish after joining Arsenal. The Gunners have lost their Chilean superstar, Alexis Sanchez, and will need the Gabon striker to recreate his fantastic performances.

Aubameyang, 28, has enjoyed the first half of the season scoring 21 goals in all competitions (13 in Bundesliga and four in Champions League). The Gabon International is in his fifth season with Bundesliga club.
The 28-year-old has finished with 113 goals since his arrival in 2013. 98 in Bundesliga and 15 in Champions League, after making 175 appearances for Borussia Dortmund.
Alexis replacement?
Earlier in the window, Arsenal lost their key man for the past few seasons, Alexis Sanchez. Many fans were unhappy to see him leave London. The signing of Aubameyang is seen to be a replacement for the Chilean and it will be interesting to see whether or not he will have the same impact on the team.
Following the announcement, the club put out the following statement:
“The 28-year-old has joined us from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term contract for a club-record fee.
Our second signing of the January transfer window, Auba is one of the world’s most highly-rated strikers. He scored 98 goals in 144 Bundesliga games for Dortmund and had a hand in 172 goals in 213 matches in all competitions for his former club.”
