Bargains of the Summer Transfer Window
A lot of big deals have been made this summer, but which one has been the most lucrative?
Blaise Matuidi
The French defensive midfielder has signed for Juventus from PSG for a mere £18.2 million. Juventus have just sold Mario Lemina to Southampton for £18 million. Good business all round for the Italian Champions. Matuidi has an average of 8.7 defensive actions per game, playing 1100 minutes this season. He has an amazing 91% pass accuracy with an average of 50 passes per game.
Youri Tielemans
The young Belgian midfielder signed for Monaco from RSC Anderlecht for £25 million. Monaco had sold star midfielder, Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea for £40 million. Tielemans is only 20 years old and has already made 18 appearances this season for the French Champions. Tielemans has 6.9 defensive actions per game. Last season he bagged 18 goals.
Wayne Rooney
The Premier League legend 32-year old moved back to first club Everton from Manchester United on a free transfer. Despite his advancing years, Rooney has scored more league goals than Lacazette, Morata and tie on par with Lukaku and Aguero. Playing in various positions for Everton this season, the former United and England star has to be the bargain of the summer signing season.
Sead Kolasinac
The Bosnian full-back came to Arsenal on a free transfer. He is only 24 years old and has arguably been Arsenal’s best player this season. On his debut for the club, he scored a header against Chelsea. He has been directly involved in 6 goals this season. He has involved 8.6 defensive actions. The Bosnian has made 21 appearances for Arsenal and completes an average of 50.9 passes per game with a pass accuracy of 86.8%. These are amazing stats for a player who came on a free transfer. Not a bad deal from Arsenal.
Paulinho
Everyone said the Brazilian midfielder’s career was over when he moved to China, a flop. Out of the blue, Barcelona snatched him for a hefty sum of £36 million, receiving a lot of criticism for this purchase, with fans wanting Valverde sacked. Now, midway through the season, Paulinho is a regular in the squad and already one of the fan favourites. He has scored 6 goals this season and has an amazing 90.25% pass accuracy completing 52.2 passes per game. The Brazilian did perhaps cost more than his worth, but with more league goals than Real Madrid’s entire midfield, Barcelona fans have recanted their complaints.
Mohamed Salah
Last but certainly not least, Egyptian Mohamed Salah arrived from Roma at Liverpool. The £42 million fee seems little, considering he has already bagged 15 goals before January.
He has already won Premier League player of the month twice, started 21 matches for Liverpool, scoring 20 goals. Salah is leading the challenge for the Golden Boot, alongside twice winner Harry Kane, and Romelu Lukaku. Salah has an amazing 96 minutes per goal compared to Kane’s 105 minutes per goal. The Egyptian has definitely left his mark on the Premier League.
