Explanations
Fresh from a fantastic victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, Tottenham Hotspur return to action with an away game at Turf Moor. Burnley have begun to string results together in the last couple of weeks including a 3-0 victory at the Amex against Brighton & Hove Albion, but Tottenham, who may be even be boosted by the return of striker Harry Kane, should have too much quality for Sean Dyche’s men here.
Sat at the foot of the Premier League table, Huddersfield Town’s fight for safety now looks rather unlikely to have a happy ending and they face another difficult away tie at St James’s Park. Newcastle United will look to make another step clear of the bottom three with a win over the Terriers at the weekend.
Wins have been hard to come by as of late for Bournemouth after an encouraging start to the season and an exciting Wolves side will enjoy playing counter-attacking football at the Vitality, with the attaching strength of Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota giving them the edge in this game.
Leicester’s home form has been rather inconsistent this season. Wins against Chelsea and Manchester City were followed by a defeat to Cardiff City and this game against Crystal Palace could go either way. With Palace boosted by the return of Wilfried Zaha, who missed out last weekend through suspension, both teams to score are likely, with Palace looking to hit the home side on the counter.
A routine win is expected of Arsenal at home to Southampton on Sunday afternoon. The Saints are struggling in the league following a defeat at home to Cardiff and will struggle to deal with the Gunners’ attacking strength.
The final fixture of this Premier League gameweek sees Manchester United take on Liverpool in a game that really could go either way. Therefore, both teams to score is on the agenda with Manchester United utilising their attacking quality since the change of management and the threat that the Liverpool front three carry means this game could be raining goals.
