FC Porto’s Teenage Wonderkid: Oskar Pietuszewski Brilliance Putting Europe’s Elite On Notice

After signing in the January transfer window, FC Porto’s teenage wonderkid, Oskar Pietuszewski, has started his Liga Portugal career in impressive fashion.

The 17-year-old sensation grew into prominence during the 2023/24 Polish Central Youth League season as he notched up three goals and four assists in eight games as a then-15-year-old.

Being one of the youngest players who played in the league that season, Pietuszewski already showed what sort of teenage sensation the Ekstraklasa were going to get.

Pietuszewski’s talent, skill and flair captured the eyes of the Jagiellonia Bialystok manager Adrian Siemieniec, who put his faith in the young forward as he was handed his debut in August 2024 against Ajax in UEFA Europa League Qualifying.

Still only 17, the journey is still a long one for Pietuszewski, but with his transfer over to FC Porto in January and big teams already sniffing around to sign him, his career is surely about to take off.

FC Porto’s Teenage Wonderkid: A Bright Start To A Bright Future

Coming through the Jagiellonia Bialystok Academy, Pietuszewski’s talent was clear and obvious, playing in higher age groups as just a young lad.

The 2024/25 season was one of progression and rapid advancement. The forward started the season in the Central Youth League once more before he was thrusted into the first team and also had a one-game stint for Jagiellonia Bialystok II in the Betclic 3 Liga, Poland’s fourth division.

Playing 61 minutes for Jaga’s second team near the end of the 2024/25 season, Pietuszewski notched an assist, but he was already well and truly integrated into the first team, making 23 appearances and adding a goal and an assist in the Ekstraklasa.

Being one of the youngest players in another league competition, Pietuszewski’s talent did the talking on the pitch as big clubs continued to circle the Poland youth international.

The 2025/26 campaign is when his stock grew massively, attracting many European clubs to try to get his signature.

Pietuszewski’s Talent And European Giants Circling

Becoming a regular starter, the teenage sensation grew into an important part in Jagiellonia’s system as he claimed the left wing spot.

His first goal involvements of the season came in Jaga’s third Ekstraklasa match of the season against Cracovia as he got one goal and one assist in a 5-2 win for Jagiellonia Bialystok.

In September 2025, Pietuszewski’s talent promoted him to Poland’s under-21 national team, and he quickly became a key player for Jerzy Brzeczek’s side.

In six UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifying games, the 17-year-old has notched four goals and two assists, the joint-second highest goalscorer in the competition so far.

Being once again one of the youngest players to be playing in another competition, Pietuszewski’s talent has propelled him to the top of his game as he continues to adapt to men’s football as a whole.

Up until the January transfer window, the young Polish forward made a combined total of 31 appearances across all competitions for Jagiellonia, as the rumours started swirling about a potential departure.

The Transfer Rumours And The Move To Portugal

Ahead of the January transfer window, rumours started to pick up that Pietuszewski’s talent had several European giants interested in signing him.

The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund all looked to sign the talented 17-year-old.

However, despite the interest from English, German and Spanish giants, the forward decided to join fellow Poles Jan Bednarek and Jakub Kiwior at FC Porto.

In a deal worth around £10 million, Pietuszewski joined the Portuguese league leaders to reinforce their already strong squad.

Over a week after signing, he made his debut against Vitória Guimarães as he came on as a substitute, and his impact for the Dragons was immediate.

13 minutes into his debut for FC Porto, he assisted Alan Varela as the Blue and Whites ran out 1-0 winners.

Two more substitute appearances followed in the league before he was benched and did not feature against Sporting CP.

What has been interesting is that for the last four Liga Portugal matchdays, Pietuszewski has been made a starter as FC Porto’s teenage wonderkid continues to shine.

In addition to this, he has two goals and one assist in his last three games for the Dragons, which includes an incredible solo effort in Porto’s 2-2 draw against Benfica in the last matchday.

From Ekstraklasa To Attracting Interest From Europe’s Elite Teams

As Pietuszewski’s talent continues to grow, drawing comparisons to Poland’s all-time top goalscorer Robert Lewandowski, the 17-year-old seems to be unstoppable.

Many young talents like Lamine Yamal, Lennart Karl, and Rio Ngumoha, just to name a few, play with a fearless nature, even though they are coming up against opponents a lot stronger and more experienced than they are.

However, with a €60 million release clause in his current contract, many big clubs will look to activate that in the summer transfer window, especially with Pietuszewski’s talent only getting better and better.

FC Porto’s teenage wonderkid signed a deal running till January 2029, the maximum allowed for a minor, but with Pietuszewski set to turn 18 in May, the Dragons will look to extend his contract.

As per Meczyki.pl, the Portuguese giants are set to hand FC Porto’s teenage wonderkid a contract extension until the summer of 2031 as soon as he turns 18.

With Europe’s top teams in the race for Pietuszewski’s signature, will the Polish starboy stay put in Portugal or jump into yet another challenge after just one season?
