Gini Wijnaldum Hails Liverpool Spirit After Important Win

Georginio Wijnaldum hailed his Liverpool teammates after the Reds secured an important win to move closer to the top four of the Premier League. After a woeful performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League, the team got back to winning ways.

The player has not been an integral part of the team since Liverpool signed Thiago.

Liverpool Get Back to Winning Ways

Liverpool went behind during the half time break after Ollie Watkins had put Aston Villa ahead but the Reds got back into the game after Mohamed Salah scored just before the hour mark after a beautiful pass from Andrew Robertson.

Jurgen Klopp’s side completed the turnaround when Trent Alexander-Arnold scored in stoppage time. The young English full-back was criticised for his performance in midweek; supporting the reason why he was not called to the England team by Gareth Southgate.

Wijnaldum hailed the character of his team and really want them to continue requesting for Champions League football. The Reds have not had a good season after injuries have befallen the squad and are not going to be able to successfully defend their crown.

The Dutch midfielder tweeted after the game; “important 3 points after an eventful game. Never give up Now focus on the big challenge in a few days.”

Liverpool had performed woefully against smaller team this season, losing to teams like Burnley, Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton at Anfield, the team needs a little bit of consistency to move into the top four of the Premier League. This is Liverpool’s second win in a row in the league and also leaves Aston Villa to 11th position in the league.

The club next game will be against the high flying Real Madrid in the Champions League, a game that will decide whether the team will move to the semi-final or will be out of Europe. It is the most important fixture of Liverpool’s season as it is the final silverware the Reds are competing for.
