Manchester United kicked off their start to the 2026/2027 pre-season with a 2-0 loss against newly promoted side Hull City. The result from the Hull City vs Manchester United game failed to impress club legends, such as Roy Keane, who had this to say:

Hull City vs Manchester United: Should Carrick Shoulder The Blame?
It’s doubtful whether to shoulder the blame for the Hull City vs Manchester United result on INEOS, who haven’t made many signings for the club, or Carrick, who entered the match with the wrong strategy. In any case, United’s next match, which is against Ipswich Town, should not be a repeat of what happened in their previous match with the Tigers.

How United Can Improve Game-Play
It’s suggested that Marcus Rashford should start the next game against Ipswich, as Patrick Dorgu isn’t well suited for the position of a left winger, as was visible in Hull City vs Manchester United. Although the English player came off the bench, he made more dangerous attacking impressions than Dorgu.
Also, since United has penned down the signature of Carlos Beleba, it’s suggested he should start with Kobbie Mainoo and Tielemans for the next game. And surprisingly, Maguire isn’t “benchable”. He appears to be the only centre-back capable of defending dangerous crosses into United’s box.
It’s, however, hoped that the disappointing result of Hull City vs Manchester United will not be repeated in the matches moving forward.
