Jose Mourinho Labels Brazilian Ronaldo to be the Greatest of All Time
Jose Mourinho was a major observer of the Brazilian international Ronaldo Nazario while he was at Barcelona and has made it clear he rates him above Argentine and Portuguese duo. When being interviewed by LiveScore about the greatest ever to grace the game, Mourinho answered “Ronaldo [Nazario]. Il Fenomeno.”
To back his decision, he insisted Ronaldo would have had a more remarkable career if not for the series of injuries he experienced while at his peak. Injuries slaughtered a career that would have been more phenomenal.
A counter-statement was made on the length of years Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been at the highest level. The duo has remained afloat others for a resounding 11 years.
Mourinho Hammering Down His Claim
However, Mourinho had a more convincing argument. He made clear the fact that Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo may have had longer careers. Nonetheless, when it boils down to talent and skill, no one surpasses Ronaldo de Lima.
In his trophy cabinet, the Brazilian won the World Cup as well as the Ballon d’Or award in 1996, 1997 and 2002 respectively.
He attained 414 career goals for several different clubs. Among the list are Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milian, and Inter Milian.
During his days in the Brazilian national team, playing with the likes of Ricardo Kaka, Ronaldinho, and Roberto Carlos, he netted 58 times for the Samba Boys.
His 58 goals in 91 caps are only behind Pele with 62 goals. However, he could soon be overtaken by current PSG man Neymar Jr who sits at 57 goals.
