Harry Kane nominated for PFA awards
Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane has been nominated for the PFA ‘Player of the Year’ and ‘Young Player of the Year’ awards for the fourth consecutive season. Kane previously won the ‘Young Player of the Year’ award in his breakthrough season of 2014/15.
These nominations come after an outstanding season for the Tottenham striker. Kane has scored 25 goals in 32 league appearances this season. He has also added 2 assists for his teammates.
PFA ‘Player of the Year’
Kane is joined by five others in this category. Manchester City trio David Silva, Leroy Sane and Kevin de Bruyne are also up for this award. Mohammed Salah and David de Gea complete the group.
Kane is currently 6 goals behind Salah in the race for the Golden Boot so this award doesn’t look like it will go to the Englishman. De Bruyne and De Gea have also had outstanding seasons for their respective clubs.
PFA ‘Young Player of the Year’
This category also consists of six nominees. Another Manchester City trio are hoping to win this award – Ederson, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling. Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon make up the fifth and sixth nominees.
Harry Kane will be hoping to win this award for the second time. His opponents have all had exceptional seasons but Kane’s goalscoring record may help him over the line.
PFA Awards Ceremony
The winners of these awards will be announced alongside the PFA Team of the Year on Sunday April 22nd. The 45th annual PFA Awards will take place at Grosvenor House London.
Gordon Taylor OBE (PFA Chief Executive) said: “The PFA Awards is always a special occasion and one of the biggest nights in football’s social calendar. For the winners who are honoured at the awards, there can be no greater personal accolade than that of being recognised by your peers; an honour to be cherished.”
