Liverpool’s season is falling apart but is now battling to make sure they qualify for next year’s Champions League place unless Jurgen Klopp’s side can repeat what they did two years ago and win one of Europe’s major trophies for the seventh time.
The Reds’ Premier League title defence came to an end after the Reds lost three consecutive games in a row to go 16 points behind leaders Manchester City in the table.

Jurgen Klopp Looking to Revitalise Dejected Reds
In the last four seasons since Klopp has taken charge of the club, the Reds have guaranteed top-four finishes however this season looks to be a lot different with Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sitting 6th just two points behind Chelsea and West Ham United and could fall further down if Aston Villa wins their games in hand.
Being out of the Premier League title race will put less pressure on Liverpool knowing they can just focus on finishing as high as possible in the league and doing well in the Champions League. Jurgen Klopp will look to retain silverware but top four will be the main priority for him and the club.
“It’s about turning those performances into results and that’s probably what we need to look at most,” Trent Alexander-Arnold said after the defeat at the King Power Stadium to Leicester City.
The Squad Still Upbeat Despite Poor Form
The Reds lost all three senior centre backs for the rest of the season and summer signing Diogo Jota who has been out since December, whilst having to rotate the squad multiple times due to players picking up niggles.
The Merseyside outfit progressed as group D winners in the Champions League, winning four and losing one of their six games to secure their passage into the last 16.
It’s a different competition, Liverpool has been at this stage many times and knows what it takes to get to the final.
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus all seem to be in the same bracket as the Reds who all have had difficult seasons, but when it comes to the Champions League, they tend to perform.
Manchester City will look to continue their impressive form whilst Atletico Madrid will hope to surprise a few teams. Reigning champions Bayern Munich will be favourites, considering they were the best team in Europe by some distance last year and went on to win it.
Liverpool Battling to Qualify for Champions League
On their day Liverpool can beat anyone. They still have a lot of quality on the pitch and with the new signings getting back to terms and Diogo Jota returning from injury there going to want to be a threat to teams. Once the form comes back, it’s challenging to stop this side.
The Reds will look to learn from the clash against Atletico Madrid as they were knocked out by the Spanish side. It was the first time Liverpool lost a two-legged tie in Europe with Klopp.
The return of Europe saw Liverpool get back to winning form as they claimed their first clean sheet in 10 games. Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane both capitalised on individual mistakes to give the Reds an advantage in the first leg against RB Leipzig.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will look to seal the second leg at Anfield in the next couple of weeks and will be looking to recall Jota, Naby Keita and Fabinho into the mix and will give Jordan Henderson the freedom to move back in midfield.
