Liverpool’s starting XI will be a matter of interest when they take the field in their next match against Ipswich Town on Friday, September 4. The Reds have two points from as many matches after coming back from behind to draw each of their matches in the Premier League so far.

Hence, it will be a matter of great concern for Andoni Iraola as far as Liverpool’s starting XI in their next match is concerned. As of now, it seems that there might be a few changes in Liverpool’s starting XI in their match against Ipswich.

Liverpool’s Starting XI: What Changes Could We See Ahead Of The Ipswich Town Clash?

Liverpool’s starting XI against Ipswich should incorporate Bradley Barcola, their latest signing from Paris Saint-Germain. If Barcola starts on the left flank, there might be no place for Cody Gakpo in Liverpool’s starting XI, as Victor Munoz, who has impressed in the Reds’ two matches so far, might start on the right flank.

Jeremie Frimpong’s performance has not been good so far, and there might be pressure on Iraola to replace him with Conor Bradley at the right-back position. Alternatively, he could also think of playing Dominik Szoboszlai in his place, which will allow him to play Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister in the double pivot.

Playing Gravenberch and Mac Allister in the double pivot will strengthen Liverpool defensively and will also ease the pressure on their defence somewhat. The Reds have let in four goals in their two matches so far, which is not a good advertisement for their defensive set-up. The strong defensive double-pivot will give Florian Wirtz, who had a good match against Nottingham Forest, a chance to play more freely as the number 10, and this will also give Liverpool a cushion against the counter-attacks of the opposition.

Hence, it remains to be seen whether Frimpong and Gakpo will be part of Liverpool’s starting XI against Ipswich Town on Friday. As of now, it seems that Barcola should definitely be starting in the match. The Frenchman, who has been a part of Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League-winning side in two successive seasons, is almost certain to strengthen the Reds.

Liverpool’s Tough Fixture List

Liverpool will play against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on September 9 and against Tottenham Hotspur on September 15. Those are two crucial matches, and the Reds will have to step up their game in them. The Reds might be making a few changes to their playing XI as the season progresses, as it should take Iraola some time to settle on his strongest starting XI. As of now, it seems that the Spaniard will have to go through a few more matches before finalising his playing XI.

The Reds will have to make sure that they get back to winning ways quickly. Losing more points against Ipswich will push them back in the league table at the very beginning of the season, which is something Iraola will want to avoid.
