European Transfer Highlights, an exit for Mousa Dembele?

The transfer madness of the January window has begun. The top teams in Europe are now looking to strengthen their squads as the season hits the home straight. Let’s have a look at rumours from around the continent, including Spurs’ Mousa Dembele.

Sneijder makes Qatar move

Wesley Sneijder is to join Qatari league side Al Gharafa, deciding to leave Nice after just five months. The Dutch international featured only eight times for the French side, who sit sixth in Ligue 1.

Appearances have been limited and he is unlikely to be missed, while his new team will be delighted to attract such a big name to the country.

Al Gharafa hopes that the transfer will inspire an upturn in league results after earning just 11 points from 11 games. The mid-table side sit seventh, only four points from the bottom. A coup signing of Sneijder’s nature will add the quality needed to push up the table.

The top scorer for Al Gharafa is former Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers winger Vladimir Weiss.

Despite the midfielder winning the Champions League and Serie A with Inter Milan, the most successful and well-known player in the league is former Barcelona star Xavi, who captains Al-Sadd.

Italian giants in the hunt for Spurs’ Mousa Dembele?

Both AC Milan and Inter are said to keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele.

The 31-year-old has only started nine times in the Premier League for Spurs and is in the last 18 months of his contract.

The Belgium International struggles with a persistent ankle problem, deemed unlikely to ever be fully healed. Despite this, Dembele is seen as a key player in the Spurs squad.

A replacement is to be bought before he will be allowed to leave. Though well covered by the ever-improving Harry Winks and Victor Wanyama returning from injury, it is not a decision that will be taken easily by the North London Club.

AC Milan have made an unbelievable 23 transfers in the summer, but have struggled in Serie A sitting 11th in the table. Dembele would add experience and power to the underachieving Italian giants.

On the other hand, Inter Milan are firmly in the title chase and are only six points behind leaders Napoli.

Mousa Dembele could be a replacement for Roberto Gagliardini, who is on loan from Atlanta.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Sandro continues

Juventus full-back Sandro will be allowed to leave the club this transfer window.

Chelsea have been linked with the 26-year-old all summer and with no new contract signed, an exit looms.

Juventus’ Club director Giuseppe Marotta fuelled claims of a move, telling Rai Sport when asked about Alex Sandro’s future: “The policy of Juventus is that if a player asks us to leave, we will not hold him back.”

“We know of the interest from big clubs, but at the moment we have not engaged in any negotiations.”

Chelsea’s current fullbacks Victor Moses, Marcus Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta have impressed this season, but are yet to reach Premier League winning form.

The Brazilian could add speed and power to the Blues’ defence. He will join fellow Chelsea newbie Ross Barkley, who following a medical, swaps one blue shirt for another after signing from Everton yesterday for a staggering £142m

Should Sandro hand in a transfer request? Fees are unlikely to be a stumbling block for the West London titleholders.
