Swansea look to play Arsenal this Tuesday, in a must-win match for both teams. The Swans are trying to get out of the relegation zone and a win like this would really help them. However, Arsenal will desperately be trying to get this win, hoping to catch up to their North London rival.
Match Preview: Swansea City vs Arsenal
Swansea haven’t been playing too well this season, currently in 20th place. However, last week Carlos Carvalhal’s side surprised the Liberty Stadium with a 1-0 home win against Liverpool. The Swans might be picking up form, not losing any of their last 5 matches in all competitions.
Arsenal has been in decent form lately, picking up a great 2-1 win against Chelsea in the Carabao cup, and a 4-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace. Although the Gunners have had their fair share of stumbles too, losing 2-1 away against Bournemouth, and a humiliating 4-2 loss against Nottingham Forest, which knocked them out of the FA Cup.
Swansea’s captain Angel Rangel looks set to miss this game with an injury, and their young midfielder, Renato Sanches, will also miss this game due to an unknown injury. Swansea does not have any players banned, but their central defender Federico Fernandez has received 4 yellow cards lately, and could possibly face a suspension.
Arsenal will be missing their super-sub Olivier Giroud, as he picked up a hamstring injury against West Ham. This could be costly for the Gunners as Giroud has helped them tremendously with comebacks this season. Arsenal’s new man, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, could be looking to make his debut this week.
Swansea City starting XI: Fabianski, Naughton, van der Hoorn, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson, Dyer, Fer, Ki, Clucas and Ayew
Arsenal starting XI: Cech, Bellerin, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Xhaka, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Lacazette
ExtraTime Talk writers have predicted a 2-1 win in favour of Arsenal. Arsenal’s attack has been in good form recently and with help from Mkhitaryan, there is sure to be some goals. Although Swansea has also been in decent form, and with the Swans, you never know what might happen.
