This Tottenham Hotspur Player Proves His Worth Repeatedly

There is one Tottenham Hotspur player who repeatedly shows his worth to the team, but is he flying under the radar?

Tottenham Hotspur Player can be ‘brilliant’

Tottenham Hotspur have the ability to be brilliant under Ange Postecoglou, but their defensive discipline needs improvement at times. The way they made a heavy weather of what should have been a straightforward win over Manchester United in the quarterfinals of EFL Cup last Thursday, December 19, was not a great sight for their supporters.

Ange Postecoglou’s side prevailed 4-3 in the end, but it should have been a much easier win for them. They conceded a couple of cheap goals through individual errors to give United a chance to bounce back in the match. Still, one constant for the Spurs this season has been Dejan Kulusevski’s good form, as the 24-year-old winger scored one on Thursday, too.

Dejan Kulusevksi: A Tottenham Hotspur player in fine form

The Swedish right-winger has scored six goals and had seven assists for Tottenham in 25 matches this season so far. It is only his second season at the club, but it will not be an overstatement to say that he has been their best player this season.

Kulusevski has also played as a No. 8 in Tottenham’s 4-3-3 quite frequently this season, thereby giving him more chances to be in the thick of things for them. His dribbling skills, coupled with his ability to get into position to shoot at the opposition goal quickly, have made him a dangerous player. He also has provided assists to Dominic Solanke at times to help the latter boost his scoring record.

James Maddison, another attacking midfielder, has also been in reasonably good form for the Spurs this season. He has found himself out of the starting XI at times, coming in as a Spurs substitue, because of Kulusevski’s consistency. The Premier League is full of quality right-wingers like Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer and Bukayo Saka, but Kulusevski has made enough claims to be considered one among them. It might not come as a surprise if bigger clubs come searching for him next season with lucrative offers.

Tottenham have a couple of big matches coming up:

Tottenham will face Liverpool in a very important Premier League match next Sunday, December 22. Liverpool are soaring high at the moment and have lost only a single match across all competitions under their new Dutch manager Arne Slot this season so far.

Hence, stopping them to earn at least a point will be tough for the Spurs. However, Postecoglou’s men are a mercurial lot, with a few dangerous players like Kulusevski, Maddison, Solanke and Son Heung-min, who have the ability to upset many a calculation.

Tottenham will then face Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day, which also promises to be a tough fixture, as Forest are the surprise package of the season. Kulusevski’s form is going to be critical for the Spurs to perform well in those matches and Postecoglou will be relying a lot on him.

Tottenham finds themselves in the 10th position in the league table with 23 points in 16 matches at the moment, but a couple of wins can change things drastically for them. It remains to be seen whether they are able to turn things around soon.
