Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the top four season are close to none after a disastrous run of games. They recorded four consecutive Premier League defeats; 4-0 against Newcastle, 3-2 versus Arsenal, 2-0 at Chelsea, and 4-2 against Liverpool last weekend. The Lilywhites seemed to be on a clear road to Champions League football but after last week’s results, they could even drop out of the Europa League spots if they can’t get back to winning ways in their final games.
Spurs now trail Aston Villa by seven points with just nine possible remaining. They also face a nine-goal difference deficit to Unai Emery’s side. Their only chance seems to be by winning all three games and Villa fails to score more than two points. It may seem rather optimistic, but after Burnley, they will face Manchester City and an already-relegated Sheffield United, while the Villains will play Liverpool and in-form Crystal Palace.
Burnley’s only chance to stay up is to win both remaining games and pray for other results. First, they would need Nottingham Forest to lose both games since with a single point that would virtually relegate the Clarets due to Forest owning a vastly superior goal difference. Besides that, Burnley also depends on Luton Town not to score more than three points as they again they trail on goal difference.

Spurs came out on top on both occasions – 5-2 and 1-0 – respectively. A clearly superior team in the worst form of the season with a job to finish against a team fighting against all odds with what they have in the most draining of situations.
Spurs are expected recover and get back to winning ways against one of the weakest sides in the league to seal a Europa League spot, and put some pressure on Aston Villa for their match on Monday. Unfortunately for Burnley, Saturday will likely the end of their hopes of survival, and confirm the relegation after just one season in the top flight.
