Watford Sack Marco Silva

A statement from Watford has blamed Everton’s approach for the manager as the catalyst for their downfall and the recent departure. Watford said they were ”convinced the appointment of Silva” in the summer ” was the right one”, and ”without the unwarranted approach” of Everton they would have kept Silva as manager.

The statement went on to say: “this has been a difficult decision and not one taken lightly. The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford has been jeopardized.”

After looking at recent results the board may be correct in where they place their blame as prior to Everton’s approach for Silva they had won four, drawn three and lost four in just eleven games and since then lost eight of thirteen top flight games, securing a mere eleven points.

The final nail in the coffin was Watford’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester yesterday, which has left the Hornets just five points above the drop zone.

This sacking makes Marco Silva the eighth manager this season to lose his job, reinforcing the ruthless of the Premier League. No news has broken regarding Silva’s successor, however, several betting sites have Jose Lopez and Manuel Pellegrini as favourites for the Watford job.
