The Premier League season is about to end with a couple of rounds of matches left. Liverpool have won the Premier League title quite easily, with a 15-point lead over second-placed Arsenal. Arne Slot thus won the league title in his first season as a manager in England.

However, there have been a few other teams, which have performed exceptionally well this season. For each, they challenged the Premier League odds early in the year and remained consistent throughout. In this article, we will look at three such teams, which have been surprisingly good this season, in this article:

3 Surprising Teams in 2024-25 Premier League Season

#3. Brentford

Brentford might just be unlucky to miss out on European football next season. At the moment, they are in the eighth position in the league table. However, that is quite a creditable feat for Thomas Frank’s side, given the number of quality teams in the league.

Brentford have 55 points in 36 matches with 16 wins, the most famous of which was against Manchester United earlier this month. Bryan Mbeumo, Brentford’s star forward, has scored 18 goals in 38 matches this season for them and might move to a bigger club in the near future.

#2. Newcastle United

Newcastle finished seventh last season, but have firmly established them as one of the top teams in England at the moment. They are currently third in the league table with 66 points in 36 matches, having won 20 of their matches. With two matches left, they might still overtake Arsenal to finish in the second place.

Newcastle have one of the best squads in England, with players like Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Jacob Murphy and Joelinton in it. Newcastle have also managed to win the EFL Cup this season, their first trophy in more than 60 years. Eddie Howe’s team remains one of the most dangerous ones in Premier League.

#1. Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest was a surprise team this Premier League season

Should Forest be able to play European football next season, it will be the biggest success story in England this season. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are seventh in the league table with 62 points in 36 matches at the moment and look good enough to play Europa League football next season. They were promoted to Premier League as recently as in 2022.

Forest were inside the top-four until a few months back and were in contention to play Champions League football next season. They still have an outside chance of doing that, provided they manage to win both of their remaining matches. With 20 goals this season, Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood has made it to the list of the nominees for the PFA Player of the Season, which is quite creditable.
