Marcus Rashford’s fate at Manchester United is still not decided, with the 27-year-old English forward practising separately at the club’s training ground at the moment. It is pretty much evident that Rashford’s equation with Ruben Amorim has not improved much.
It was clear last season itself that Amorim did not want Rashford in his scheme of things, which led to the latter’s departure to Aston Villa on loan.
Rashford did not lose much from that development, as he scored four goals and registered four assists for Villa in 17 matches with them. He also played in the UEFA Champions League football, where Villa lost to PSG in the quarter-finals.
Manchester United Might Remain a Poorer Side Without Marcus Rashford
The Red Devils have roped in Matheus Cunha, who can play as the left-winger. However, with the future of both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho uncertain with the club, their options on the left side of their attack might be limited next season, unless they sign another player.
Tiffs between players and the manager are not new in the history of Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson had fall-outs with star players like Roy Keane and David Beckham, which led to their departure from the club.
However, Amorim must understand that he does not have the clout anywhere near what Sir Alex had in his heyday as the manager. He cannot afford to have a big ego at this point when dealing with Rashford.
Rashford has almost 450 matches under his belt at this point and has scored nearly 150 goals in his career so far. That makes him one of the senior players in United’s set-up, and his experience should prove to be very useful in getting the Red Devils out of the troubled waters.

Rashford Has Been Linked With a Few Top Clubs
The English forward has been linked with clubs like Barcelona, Juventus and even Liverpool for a possible switch. United might earn some money by selling him and would not have to pay his hefty wages in that case either.
However, that financial boost might not compensate for the footballing loss the club will suffer with his departure.
Manchester United have been quite lethargic in the transfer market in the current transfer window so far, and unless they pick things up in a forceful manner, they might not have enough top-class players in their squad.
United must learn their lessons from the Jadon Sancho-Erik ten Hag saga that made the club suffer despite signing Sancho at a hefty price. Sancho is still with the club, but finds himself sidelined again at the moment.
Ego-clashes like those do not help the club’s cause at all.The Glazers, who are the majority shareholders, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group must make their presence felt to resolve the stalemate that prevails over the Rashford affair.
As one of the top English players of his generation, Rashford probably deserves to get things done in a more professional way. It remains to be seen whether good sense dawns on the United management.
