Can Signing Omari Hutchinson Propel Nottingham Forest To Competing for Premier League Top-Four?

Nottingham Forest are pushing to get some necessary transfers done in the 2025 summer window ahead of the start of their new 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

After a relatively disappointing pre-season campaign, Nuno Espirito Santo was forced to strengthen his attacking options, and it now looks like his side are close to completing the signing of exciting youngster Omari Hutchinson to add more firepower to their attacking front.

How Much Are Nottingham Forest Paying Ipswich Town For Omari Hutchinson?

Nottingham Forest were totally intent on completing the signing of Omari Hutchinson after being involved in lengthy negotiations with Ipswich Town for his signing. It’s now being reported that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have agreed a deal with the Championship side to sign the attacking midfielder for a fee of around £37.5 million.

The 21-year-old is now ready to undergo his medical tests with Nottingham Forest and is not going to be a problem when it comes to agreeing to personal terms on his contract with Nottingham Forest.

Forest are paying a formidable fee for Hutchinson’s signing, and that fee will ensure that he breaks their club transfer record.

This was initially broken by Forest’s signing of Dan Ndoye from Bologna in the 2025 summer window, as they paid around £35 million for that transfer, but they’re now paying an even higher fee to sign Hutchinson to strengthen their attacking power.

Nuno Espirito Santo was impressed with what he saw from Hutchinson in the 2024/25 Premier League, when the youngster produced some real eye-catching performances for Ipswich, despite their relegation into the Championship.

As a result, he pushed them to complete the transfer and even break their transfer record, knowing the kind of upgrade that the 21-year-old can prove to be for Forest’s attacking front.

Could Hutchinson Help Nottingham Forest Push For Premier League Top-Four Place?

Omari Hutchinson had a pretty good 2024/25 season for Ipswich Town and was arguably among their best players in the Premier League as well. The Englishman proved his versatility in being able to slot into multiple roles for his side, playing as a No.10 and in either of the two wings as well.

He scored three goals and provided two assists in the Premier League last season, including goals against Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 21-year-old was able to torment defenders with his speed and was able to dart into the key areas with his clever off-the-ball movement.

He recorded some pretty decent metrics, averaging 3.38 progressive carries, 2.61 progressive passes, and 1.78 successful take-ons per 90 minutes in the 2024/25 Premier League for his side.

Those metrics aren’t that bad, especially considering how Callum Hudson-Odoi averaged 2.91 progressive passes, 5.33 progressive carries and 1.52 successful take-ons per 90 minutes.

Hutchinson’s versatility and his age are major factors propelling Nottingham Forest to break their club record for his signing.

Now that he’ll be playing more clinical players and individuals who will be able to help him unlock his potential abilities, the 21-year-old should be a more potent product who creates more chances for Nottingham Forest and helps them be a menacing threat on the transitions.

Hutchinson will also increase their depth, meaning he can be rotated with any of their attacking players and give necessary rest to other players.

The Englishman’s goal contributions, especially in big games, could prove to be decisive in helping Nottingham Forest pick up more points and push strongly for a Premier League top-four place.

He can also be a special weapon for them in the UEFA Europa League, as Hutchinson has the skillset to trouble defenders of European opponents and help them compete strongly in Europe as well.

The Englishman’s raw potential and exciting style should help make Nottingham Forest more entertaining to watch and help them play more attractive attacking football going forward.
