The Jadon Sancho loan deal to Aston Villa materialised on the last day of the Summer Transfer Window. Sancho has had a problematic stint at Manchester United for quite some time now.
He was at Chelsea on loan last season, but the club decided against making the move permanent. Before his Chelsea spell, Sancho had also gone on loan to Borussia Dortmund, his former club, and reached the UEFA Champions League final with them.
Jadon Sancho’s Numbers Have Deteriorated Since Leaving Borussia Dortmund
Sancho spent four seasons at Borussia Dortmund prior to securing a move to Manchester United. He scored 50 goals and provided 50 assists in 137 matches for the German club. That is a splendid record, but the English winger’s stats have deteriorated since leaving the club.
For Manchester United, Sancho has managed only 12 goals and provided only six assists in 83 matches. He scored five goals and had four assists in 41 matches for Chelsea, which is not that great either.
Sancho also managed to earn 23 international caps for England early on in his career, but has found himself out of favor with the Three Lions for the past few years.
He is 25 at the moment and should be enjoying his prime as a footballer now. However, his inability to stay at a club for long is hampering his career somewhat.
Major Fall-Out With His Former Manager
Sancho’s relationship with Erik ten Hag, his former manager at Manchester United, soured while he was at the club. Ten Hag was sacked afterwards, but Sancho still did not manage to convince the club of his utility. It was a break in the momentum of his career, and he still has not recovered from it.
In this regard, Sancho can be compared with Marcus Rashford, another Manchester United left-winger, who secured loan spells at Aston Villa in the past and is currently enjoying one with Barcelona.

Jadon Sancho Loan to Aston Villa: Will He Perform?
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have made a very bad start to their Premier League campaign this season, losing two of their three matches so far. With a striker like Ollie Watkins up front at Villa, Sancho should have a great opportunity to excel by creating chances for the latter.
However, unless he does something really outstanding for Villa, it is difficult for him to secure a permanent move to the club.
Sancho has made more than 260 appearances for various clubs at senior level, which makes him an experienced campaigner. Hence, one expects him to conduct himself in an exemplary manner.
Much blame should not be attributed to him for his tiff with Ten Hag, though, as the manager made quite a few questionable decisions while being at the helm of the Red Devils.
Still, for the sake of his career, one hopes that Sancho will mend his ways as a player. One hopes that he has a really good career ahead of him, because the ability is certainly there. It remains to be seen whether he is able to convert it to performance for his new club.
