Arsenal’s New Signings Fashion Victory Over Nottingham Forest

Arsenal’s new signings played a key role in dismantling Nottingham Forest 3-0 in a Premier League match at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, September 13.

Martin Zubimendi scored a brace and Viktor Gyokeres added another goal to take the Gunners past Nottingham Forest in the visitors’ first match under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

The Gunners now have nine points from four matches and are level with Liverpool on points, but the Reds have played a match less. Arsenal’s new signings are already paying dividends for Mikel Arteta’s men this season.

Arsenal’s New Signings Shone in Dominant Win

Zubimendi, who has been very impressive since joining Arsenal, was once again a key player in the midfield. His two goals from set-pieces emerged as an additional feature of his game on Saturday. The volley he scored to break the deadlock in the first half was a class act.

Then, there was Eberechi Eze, who replaced Gabriel Martinelli in the starting XI and played a perfect grounded cross from the left flank to help Gyokeres score the Gunners’ second goal. Gyokeres obliged by being present in the perfect position to tap in his third goal of the season.

That is the bit the Gunners had been missing for so long, with non-strikers like Kai Havertz having been given the job of a No. 9.

Noni Madueke, who has been Arsenal’s best player so far this season along with Zubimendi, kept showing his blistering pace to cut in from the right flank repeatedly. Madueke and Eze did enough to repeatedly hurt Forest’s defence.

Postecoglou’s men tried playing with a high defensive line at times, but the home side took advantage of that by playing long passes past it. Arsenal’s second goal also came from one such long pass.

Arteta decided to start without Declan Rice in midfield to give the latter some rest ahead of their first match in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, September 16. Rice made an appearance in the second half as a substitute, but by then the fate of the match was already sealed.

Arsenal Looking Good Despite Injuries To Key Players

The Gunners have been missing Bukayo Saka for some time now, while Martin Odegaard also suffered an injury against Forest. Ethan Nwaneri replaced him in the match and did not allow Arsenal to feel the Norwegian’s absence.

The north Londoners’ squad depth can be something to cherish for any team.

Arsenal’s new signings Madueke, Zubimendi, Eze and Gyokeres have made them more complete as a team. The Gunners now have a well-rounded squad, which can only be matched by Liverpool and Manchester City among the English teams on paper.

The Gunners faithful will hope that their squad depth helps their team end the trophy drought they have been experiencing in the Premier League for more than two decades now.

The recruitment has been faultless this summer, and it is now time for the players to implement the strategy on the pitch. It remains to be seen whether they are able to do that.
