With around nine months remaining for the start of the World Cup at the United States, Canada and Mexico in 2026, the European Group C World Cup qualifiers are about to enter an interesting phase. The Group C consists of Denmark, Scotland, Greece and Belarus.
We will turn our attention to this group at the moment. Denmark are leading the group with four points from two matches, with Scotland trailing them on goal-difference. Let us take a look at three players to watch out for in the group C of European World Cup qualifiers.
Who to Watch at Group C World Cup Qualifiers
#3. Konstantinos Tsimikas
Tsimikas has been a fringe player at Liverpool mostly during his five-year stint with them. He appeared in 115 matches for the Reds as a left-back and also win the Premier League title with them.
However, with the Reds signing Milos Kerkez this season, Tsimikas has moved to AS Roma on loan. At 29, he is one of the senior players for Greece and has already played in 43 international matches for them.
Greece won the European Championships in 2004, but their performance at World Cup has not been anything special. They last qualified for the tournament in 2014, losing in the round of 16. If they are to qualify again for the tournament to the delight of fans looking to Greek online casino sites, Tsimikas will have to play his role well. The Greeks do not have too many players playing for top clubs at the moment and Tsimikas should make his experience count.
2. Scott McTominay
McTominay is another former Manchester United player, whose career has gotten a new lease of life since moving to Napoli. The 28-year-old midfielder played in more than 250 matches for the Red Devils in his seven-year-long stint with them, but was mostly used as a defensive midfielder.
Antonio Conte has used McTominay as a more attacking player at Napoli and the latter has already scored 14 goals in 41 matches for them. McTominay was adjudged Serie A Most Valuable Player in the 2024-25 season and also won the league title with Napoli. To say he’s having as much fun playing in Serie A as playing Chicken Road game is an understatement.
It is now time for him to make things count for his national team, who have not qualified for World Cup since 1998. McTominay is one of the senior players in the Scottish side with 12 goals in 63 matches for them, including one against Greece in this year’s World Cup qualifier. He will have to keep performing well if Scotland are to qualify for next year’s tournament.
#1. Rasmus Hojlund
Hojlund is only 22 at the moment, but has had a very eventful career already. He has played in 95 matches for Manchester United and scored 26 goals for them. His below-par performance for the club has led to a loan move to Serie A champions Napoli.
Hojlund has scored his first goal for Napoli. He will have to be at his best if the Danes are to qualify for the World Cup from their group. He has scored nine goals in 28 matches for the Danish national team so far, including one in a World Cup qualifier against Greece this year. This is now time for Hojlund to step up again and ensure his country’s qualification to what will be his first-ever World Cup.
