The speculations about the next Chelsea manager are swirling around at the moment. After Liam Rosenior’s sacking, the Blues are in search of their next manager, who will be their third one this season.

The job of the next Chelsea manager will certainly be a tough one, as the club management has shown no restraint in chopping managers and spending money inordinately on players.

Hence, the question remains as to who will be the next Chelsea manager. Chelsea are in eighth place in the Premier League table, and it will be a Herculean task for them to ensure Champions League football next season.

Why Cesc Fabregas Has The Credentials To Be The Next Chelsea Manager?

Fabregas is only 38, but that should not stop him from being the next Chelsea manager. One cannot forget that Pep Guardiola became the Barcelona manager at a similar age and did an amazing job with the club.

Fabregas was a great player who won two Premier League titles with Chelsea and a La Liga title with Barcelona. He played in more than 700 matches in his senior career, scoring more than 120 goals as a central midfielder. He is also a winner of the World Cup and two European Championships with the Spanish national team.

However, what should impress the Chelsea management even more is his recent performances as the manager of Como. The Italian club are sitting fifth in the Serie A table with five rounds of matches to go and look on track to secure European football next season.

Como also reached the semi-final of the Coppa Italia and lost narrowly to Inter Milan. Fabregas has done some impressive work with the club, and it makes his credentials impressive as a candidate for the job of the next Chelsea manager.

More importantly, none of the last three Chelsea managers – Graham Potter, Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior – were great players themselves, unlike Fabregas. Hence, as a man who has been there and done that, he will command some serious respect in the dressing room.

The Chelsea Job Is Not Easy

However, being a great player alone is not enough for doing well as the Chelsea manager, as Frank Lampard would testify. The next Chelsea manager should be able to deal with the club management as well, who do not have the habit of thinking twice before recruiting unproven players or sacking managers.

Gelling well with the youngsters in the squad will also be a key factor for the next Chelsea manager. The likes of Estevao, Joao Pedro, Andrey Santos and Cole Palmer will need the manager to guide them and provide insightful information when needed.

As Fabregas has operated with youngsters extensively at Como, it should not be much of a problem for him. However, the pressure at Chelsea will be completely different from the one at Como. Hence, if he is chosen as the next Chelsea manager, Fabregas will have to prepare for it mentally.

As of now, Andoni Iraola and Marco Silva are also in the race, with Jose Mourinho’s name also popping up here and there. Xabi Alonso, Fabregas’ former teammate for Spain, seems to be in the running as well and can match the latter in terms of his exploits as a player.

Both of these young managers have played in the Premier League; however, Fabregas has something invaluable – the experience of winning big titles as a player in the English top flight, something that Xabi Alonso could not achieve.
