A replacement could secure the future of Milan while keeping the title dreams alive for the season. So, here are the individuals that could take over from the Swedish goal-machine-

 Odsonne Edouard

The Celtic goalscorer has become a force in the Scottish Premiership. With 62 goals to show in a short tenure, the former Paris Saint Germain youngster looks set to decide on in his future soon. A.C. Milan’s search for a striker to Ibrahimovic could be made easier by a similar player with more mobility and time. Odsonne Edouard‘s playmaking skills have won plaudits, as he has assisted a whopping 35 times since he arrived at Celtic in 2018.

Donyell Malen

The PSV Eindhoven star has found himself linked to the seven-time Champions League winners on many occasions in recent times. The highly-rated 21-year old has shown potency in front of goal. Donyell Malen has bagged an incredible 18 goals in his last 27 appearances in the Eredivisie. Aside from being a good finisher, his 1.6 key passes per 90 are similar to Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s. While the Dutchman might need time to find his feet in a more intense league like Serie A, he might be an excellent long-term option for the ever-prolific Swedish striker.

Luka Jovic

The 23-year old cost Real Madrid 60 million Euro when he signed from Eintracht Frankfurt but has failed to replicate the same form he showed in Germany. The Serbian struggling for game time since his arrival. His off-the-pitch attitude has further rubbed the club and the fans the wrong way. Although the goals have dried up, the hype surrounding him hasn’t died. His 17 goals and five assists in 2249 minutes of action in the Bundesliga before his move to Spain are often cited as a reason why everyone should be patient with him. Luka Jovic‘s issues with the La Liga giants should open the door for the current Serie A leaders.

The Final Say

The above options are impressive, but there is an added element attached to these players, and that is the need for patience. The need to adapt to a new league often arises when a player moves to a different league, irrespective of the talent and experience level. It should also be added that all of them fit Paolo Maldini‘s requirements of using youth to augment Milan’s chances of winning Serie A once again.
