The Antoine Semenyo goal against Fulham helped Manchester City win their Premier League match 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, February 11. Semenyo scored the first goal of the match before Nico O’Reilly and Erling Haaland increased the deficit to complete an important win for the Cityzens.

Manchester City now have 53 points from 26 matches. Pep Guardiola’s men thus remain in the hunt for their seventh league title in nine seasons. The Antoine Semenyo goal against Fulham showed that the signing completed in the January transfer window has been a good one for Manchester City.

Antoine Semenyo Goal Makes Him One of the Most Prolific Wingers in English Football This Season

The Antoine Semenyo goal against Fulham was his fifth in eight matches for the Cityzens. Prior to coming to Manchester City, Semenyo had scored 10 goals in 21 matches for AFC Bournemouth this season. That means that he has 15 goals in 29 appearances this season, which is very impressive for a winger.

Semenyo is fast and can be deadly on counterattacks. In the absence of Jeremy Doku and Savinho, Semenyo has really gelled well with the rest of his colleagues at Manchester City. His speed and clinical approach make him a great player to have, especially against lesser team, who typically struggle to contain him.

Semenyo also has the ability to play on both flanks, and as he demonstrated in the 2-1 win against Liverpool last weekend, he is also comfortable playing in a more central position. He consistently makes forward runs, with or without the ball, which always gives his team an advantage in terms of launching their attacks.

An Important Signing

The Antoine Semenyo goal pointed out his importance to his team once again. Haaland scored in his second successive match, but Semenyo has managed to score more goals from open play than the Norwegian since he joined Manchester City. The goal against Fulham showed that he could be very opportunistic inside the opposition penalty box as well.

The Cityzens are chasing Arsenal in a mouth-watering Premier League title race and will need their team firing on all cylinders if they are to catch the Gunners. They have done so in the past and will feel confident of repeating the act, guided by Pep Guardiola’s genius.

The Cityzens will take on Salford City in the fourth round of FA Cup this weekend. Thereafter, they will take on Newcastle United in a Premier League match before locking horns with Leeds United in their last match of the month.

The Cityzens will have to keep battling on and winning matches to keep the pressure on the Gunners. They are well capable of doing so, with Semenyo coming to the fore. All their new signings, including Gianluigi Donnarumma, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders, have been doing really well and Semenyo has been no exception to that rule.

However, Guardiola will have to use him judiciously and should not play him against every opposition. With Doku and Savinho likely to make comebacks from injuries pretty soon, the workload might reduce for Semenyo in the near future. One can only hope that he keeps performing in the same manner.
