Barcelona Close to Alvaro Morata Transfer

It looks like it will be a busy transfer window for Barcelona. Out of all the big teams in Europe they have been struggling financially. They have completed the signing of Ferran Torres and now see Barcelona close Alvaro Morata signing to increase their attacking options.

Barcelona Close To Alvaro Morata Signing

Why Morata?

It may sound surprising that Barcelona are considering Spain international Alvaro Morata. However, when thinking about it thoroughly, he is the correct choice for the club at this moment. As is already known, Luis Enrique (the manager of Spain) managed to make Morata adapt to his own play style and made him the number one striker for Spain. Morata has been nothing but helpful for the Spanish national team despite some poor performances. Xavi could see a great opportunity in Morata if he made him adapt to his playing style looking to the fact that Enriques’ play style is similar Xavi.

Since joining Juventus last season, Moratas’ numbers are quite good despite the criticism he gets from media. He currently has 27 goals in 67 games for them which is a better rate than the one he had in his first spell at the club back in 2014-2016 where he scored 27 in 93. It is true that he hasn’t yet performed up to what is expected from him, yet he has been an important player for both Andrea Pirlo and now Massimiliano Allegri.

At Barcelona, the main issue is their final touch in front of goal. Morata could provide this attribute for Xavi’s side if he joins. Added to that, he is not always the player who stays inside the box and waits for the ball. Morata could drop down the field and provide assistance for the midfield during the build up play.

Spain National Team Advantage

There is in fact a very important point that needs to be clarified. If Barcelona sign Morata, the team would have several players in their starting 11 who already start for Spain. Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Gavi, Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati and Eric Garcia all start for Spain when fit. This means that Morata would most probably not find it hard to adapt to the dressing room when he joins since he plays with several players in the national team. Barcelona fans remember well how good their team was when they had several players in the national team back then. During their golden era under Pep Guardiola, the club had eight players playing together in the Spanish national team. Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol, Sergio Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, David Villa and Cesc Fabregas shared the dressing room in the national team as well as in the club. This made the team not struggle with chemistry between them which lead to producing one of the most beautiful pieces of football art in history with Barcelona. Now in 2022, the same can happen if Morata joins.

It is important to note that Morata joining Barcelona would mean that he played for Spains’ top three teams, Barcelona, Atletico and Real Madrid.
