Bruno Fernandes’ 300th appearance for Manchester United was a milestone reached last weekend in the Manchester United vs Brighton & Hove Albion 4-2 Red Devils win. United’s third consecutive win in the Premier League overshadowed Bruno Fernandes’ milestone, but it is undeniably a notable achievement for the 31-year-old Portuguese midfielder.

In 300 Manchester United appearances, he has scored 100 goals. Since signing for them in the January transfer window of 2020, he has been their most important player and is now also the club’s captain.

Bruno Fernandes’ 300th Appearance for Manchester United Puts Him Alongside a Few Club Legends

Fernandes has joined an elite club of Manchester United legends by achieving the milestone of 300 Manchester United appearances. The likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham have achieved it in the past.

However, Fernandes has not had the luxury of playing in star-studded teams like the players mentioned above. He has been a part of Manchester United during a relatively dark phase of the club, which has seen them finish in 15th position in the Premier League table in 2024/25.

Winning the FA Cup and EFL Cup have been the only consolations for the Portuguese at United during his stint so far. However, he has grown into one of the most influential playmakers that the league has had to offer during the last 5-6 years.

In fact, other than Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, no other player has been as influential in creating moves for his team as a No. 10 as Fernandes for Manchester United during the past decade.

And now after Bruno Fernandes’ 300th appearance for Manchester United, one question begs…

Should Bruno Fernandes Leave Manchester United?

As one of the leading attacking midfielders in Europe, Fernandes probably deserves to play for an elite team that regularly plays in the UEFA Champions League. Not playing in Europe’s premier competition is something that a player of his calibre should not miss out on.

Only 25 of Bruno Fernandes’ 300 appearances for Manchester United have been in Champions League. That is a very small chunk, and the Portugal international has played in Europa League, Europe’s second-tier competition, far often than he has in Champions League.

Fernandes has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in the recent past and might leave United next summer. Playing in the Saudi League will undoubtedly allow him to earn a hefty sum of money, but the sense of underachievement as a player will still be there.

One way for Fernandes to make amends is to help his club clinch a spot in the Champions League by performing well this season. Should the Red Devils manage to secure qualification to the Champions League next season, Fernandes might decide to stay at the club.

Either way, his status as one of the most influential players of the club this century is confirmed.

Bruno Fernandes’ 300th appearance for Manchester United is a milestone for the club too, as they have not had too many elite players playing for them since Sir Alex Ferguson left. Here is hoping that he continues to have a good time at Old Trafford.
