Bernardo Silva and Declan Rice should also be in contention, but, Bernardo was substandard in the first half of the season, and Rice has been so in the second.

United are favourites to finish inside the top four this season, doing so will mean that they play in the Champions League next season. Fernandes has undoubtedly played a key role in it.

He should be in the reckoning without any doubt, but, ultimately, anyone from among Haaland, Rice and Bernardo should win it in the end.
