The Christos Tzolis signing by Arsenal has worked in their first match of the season, the FA Community Shield against Manchester City. Arsenal won the match 3-0, and Tzolis registered two assists in his debut match for the Gunners.
The Christos Tzolis signing was made in order to replace Leandro Trossard. He thus became Arsenal’s second signing of the season after Bruno Guimaraes. The 24-year-old Greek left-winger was signed from Club Brugge in the current transfer window and the Christos Tzolis signing is expected to work for the English champions.
Christos Tzolis Signing: What Does the Greek Winger Bring to the Table?

Tzolis scored 17 goals and registered a very impressive 23 assists in 36 matches for Club Brugge last season. Prior to that, in the 2021/22 season, Tzolis played in 17 matches for Norwich City, who were then in the Premier League.
Tzolis’ performance for Norwich was pretty ordinary, but he was a teenager back then. He has definitely come back to the league much stronger and is expected to make his mark for the English champions this season.
Tzolis has earned 34 international caps for the Greek national team in the last six years and scored nine goals in them. Thus, the promise is definitely there for the young Greek, and it remains to be seen how things shape up for him at Arsenal.
The beginning has definitely been good for him, and his two assists on debut, including one to Martin Odegaard, will give him a lot of confidence. Tzolis’ ability to play passes with a calm assurance in tight spaces is a quality Arsenal will need in plenty this season.
He is not much of a physical specimen, but his ball skills and passing ability should act as an asset for the Gunners. With Trossard no longer in the squad, Tzolis will primarily have to contend with Gabriel Martinelli and Eberechi Eze for a place on the left flank.
However, even Martinelli has been linked to a move away from the club of late, and in case his departure happens as well, Tzolis will pretty much have a free run as the left-winger for the Gunners, with only Eberechi Eze as his competition.

Tzolis is One of the Few Greeks to Play at a Top English club
The Christos Tzolis signing makes him a member of a very exclusive club of Greek players who have played for top English clubs.
Konstantinos Tsimikas has played for Liverpool in the recent past and prior to that, Sotirios Kyrgiakos played in 30 Premier League matches for the Reds between 2009 and 2011. Tsimikas won a Premier League title with Liverpool as well.
Tzolis should, however, have a stronger chance of playing in the first team regularly compared to either of the above two had for their respective teams. The Christos Tzolis signing might prove to be a pivotal one for the Gunners, as they now desperately need a long-term replacement on the left side of their attack.
The real test for Tzolis will begin on Friday, August 21, when Arsenal take on Coventry City. He could prove to be a very crucial component in Arsenal’s title defence this season, and the success of the Christos Tzolis signing remains very critical for the North Londoners.
