Arsenal are about to complete the Bruno Guimaraes signing from Newcastle United. The Bruno Guimaraes signing will give the Gunners yet another option in the midfield. The 28-year-old Brazilian is one of the best central midfielders in the Premier League at the moment.

Arsenal will now have a problem of plenty as far as their midfield is concerned. They already have a midfield stacked with top players, and the addition of Guimaraes is going to strengthen it further.

It remains to be seen which two players feature in the Arsenal double-pivot next season should the Bruno Guimaraes signing take place.

Bruno Guimaraes Signing: How Will It Affect the Arsenal Team Formation Next Season?

Arsenal primarily played with Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi in the double-pivot last season, which saw them win the Premier League title. Mikel Merino was the other midfielder who played in a number of matches.

However, the Bruno Guimaraes signing is going to increase the number of options Mikel Arteta will have in the midfield. Guimaraes primarily plays as a No.8, but played in the recent World Cup alongside Casemiro in the double-pivot for the Brazilian team.

Arsenal could very well start with Rice and Guimaraes in their double-pivot, but that will mean having two attacking-minded players in it. Both Rice and Guimaraes prefer to surge forward, which means that either of them could do with a partner who would prefer to stay back.

Guimaraes scored 21 goals and registered 20 assists in the last three Premier League seasons for Newcastle, which goes on to show his attacking prowess.

Zubimendi could be that player who would give Arsenal the defensive solidity, especially against big teams. Hence, dropping Zubimendi and going for Rice and Guimaraes in the double-pivot might not be ideal for the Gunners.

On the other hand, dropping Rice is almost out of the question, as the Englishman is one of the most important players in their set-up. Guimaraes will not like to sit on the bench either, and hence, Arteta will have an issue on his hands as far as the selection of the playing XI is concerned.

It now remains to be seen as to which two players feature in the Arsenal double-pivot in their Community Shield match against Manchester City on August 16 and their first Premier League match against Coventry City on August 21.

Arsenal would actually like to have problems of such kind, which will encourage healthy competition within the squad. However, the onus will be on Arteta to utilise his resources judiciously and make sure that he can make optimum use of them.

Guimaraes Will have a Great Chance to Win Trophies at Arsenal

Guimaraes has a solitary EFL Cup triumph to show for in his club career so far, and his chances of winning a trophy will increase manifold at Arsenal.

The Gunners are among the best teams in England, and playing for them will automatically put the Brazilian in a better position to win trophies if the Bruno Guimaraes signing happens.

It now remains to be seen whether the Bruno Guimaraes signing makes Arsenal an even stronger team and helps them defend their league title.
