Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku Shine as Belgium Thrash Tunisia

Eden Hazard Shines as Belgium Thrash Tunisia 5-2

Belgium sealed their place in the next round after a 5-2 victory over Tunisia. Romelu Lukaku scored two goals in the first half to go along with Eden Hazard‘s brace. Michy Batushuayi also contributed with a strike. Tunisia had the chance to get back in the game but failed to make an impact as Khazri scored a late consolation goal.

Romelu Lukaku at the Double Again

The Manchester United striker enjoyed the opening game with two goals against Panama. Lukaku added to his two goals with another double to cement his place in the golden boot race.

The 25-year-old scored the second of the game in just 16 minutes. Romelu Lukaku went through one on one with the Tusiain defender showing onto his strong foot as he finishes low and hard into the bottom corner. Then it was brilliant play again for his second of the game.

Meunier found himself on the edge of the box as he slides Lukaku through on goal. As the Belgium striker chips it over the keeper from six yards out.

Eden Hazard Shines for Belgium

Eden Hazard criticised his fellow teammate Romelu Lukaku this week. But the pair definitely showed up to put a fantastic performance on. It was not long until Hazard started troubling the defence.

The Chelsea man found himself on the edge of the box as a little stopover and burst of pace beat the defender as he was taken down. VAR was involved to see if the incident happened outside the box but was given as a penalty.

Eden Hazard was cool, calm and collected as he shot the ball past the keeper from the spot. His second goal of the game was world-class as Belguim’s Toby Alderweireld saw his teammate running behind the defence. As a long ball over the top finds Hazard who controls it superbly and slots it past the ‘keeper.

Tunisia Feel Hard Done

Tunisia was one of the highest-ranked African teams coming into this World Cup. The African side could have got a vital point against England until a late Harry Kane goal broke their hearts.

It looked like it was going to be a long afternoon for Tunisia after two early goals for Belgium. But, they pulled one back after Bronn rose the highest to head Khazri free-kick beyond Courtois.

However, the second half got away from them as Belgium put three past Tunisia to put the game to bed.

How Far Can Belgium Go?

The major nations have failed to delivered performances to please everyone. Germany failed to beat Mexico and both Brazil and France claimed very uninspiring wins. So, Belgium has played one of the best football so far this tournament and has scored the goals.

The depth within this squad is one of the best and have a great spine. Starting from Courtois and Vertonghen but going all the way up to De Bruyne, Hazard and Lukaku. They play with freedom and quality which any team will hate to face.

Can they win the World Cup? All depends if the defence can sharpen up after conceding two sloppy goals. But the attack is out of this world and has the potential of winning this tournament.
