The Erling Haaland hat-trick against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals helped Manchester City win the match 4-0 and book a place in the last four.
The Erling Haaland hat-trick meant that the Cityzens grabbed their second comfortable victory over Liverpool in the current season.
The 25-year-old striker thus underlined his importance to the team yet again and remains critical to Manchester City’s aspirations of winning a domestic treble this season.
They have already won the Carabao Cup, and the Erling Haaland hat-trick last Saturday, took them significantly closer to the FA Cup title.
Erling Haaland Hat-Trick: Norwegian Goal-Scoring Machine Hitting The Back Of The Net Once More
It is Haaland’s fourth season at Manchester City, and he has already scored 33 goals in 44 matches this season.
Overall, he has 157 goals in 190 matches for the Cityzens and is steadily progressing towards Sergio Aguero’s record tally of 260 goals for the club.
The Erling Haaland hat-trick is his 12th hat-trick since joining Manchester City in July 2022.
Each of the goals in the Erling Haaland hat-trick was scored in three different ways.
First, he converted a penalty and then scored with a brilliantly placed header from an Antoine Semenyo cross that gave Giorgi Mamardashvili no chance in the Liverpool goal.
Haaland’s third goal was also a reminder of how cool his brain is inside the opposition penalty box. His composure in the final third is a thing of envy for other strikers and is one of the main reasons why he has such a prolific goalscoring record.
However, with seven matches in the Premier League to go and Manchester City having no engagement in the UEFA Champions League, the time is for Haaland to focus all his attention on the upcoming Premier League matches against Chelsea and Arsenal and help his team regain some lost ground in the race for the Premier League title.
Haaland has typically been underwhelming against Arsenal in recent times and will have a chance to set the record straight at the Etihad on Sunday, April 19.
The striker has traditionally struggled against Gabriel and William Saliba, but his movement could still make spaces for other Manchester City players inside the box, just as it partly did for Nico O’Reilly in the Cityzens’ 2-0 win over the Gunners in the Carabao Cup final last month.

Erling Haaland Hat-Trick: Pep Guardiola’s Most Effective Weapon
Even with the addition of new players like Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo, the Cityzens primarily look towards the Norwegian to score goals.
Haaland should be in the prime of his career now and should continue to have a major influence in the game for the next few years at least.
Unless some other club lures him away from the Cityzens, Manchester City are likely to benefit greatly from the Norwegian’s presence.
The club has been fortunate enough to have two great strikers in succession in Aguero and Haaland.
As the Erling Haaland hat-trick against Liverpool showed, there is no substitute for having a lethal marksman upfront, irrespective of the playing style of the team.
