Report: Everton to Sign Cenk Tosun

Everton’s big spending continues in the January transfer window as they secure their first signing, Cenk Tosun from Besiktas. While the deal is not yet officially completed, Besiktas president Fikret Orman has confirmed that a fee has been agreed and that Tosun is expected to join Everton shortly. The Turkish international will join Everton for a reported fee of £27 million.

Everton Sign Cenk Tosun

Tosun has been a key player for Besiktas, scoring 14 goals in all competitions this season already. The addition to the Everton squad, would see him take the place of Ramirez or Calvert Lewin as first-choice-striker. With Everton already on the climb up, the arrival of the Turkish international could possibly allow Allardyce’s side to earn a spot in Europe for next season.

The Toffees spent over £140 million in the summer but got off to a rocky start in the Premier League. After the sacking of Ronald Koeman and appointment of Sam Allardyce, Everton have had a series of good results in the league putting them up to ninth position. The signing of Sandro Ramirez from Malaga in the summer proved a flop as the Spaniard was unable to fit into the side. Allardyce said that his priority for the January window would be to sign a striker and has identified Tosun.

Allardyce has been rotating between Oumar Niasse, Dominic Calvert Lewin, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney. He has been unable to find the right striker for his system and believes the addition of Tosun will solve his attacking problems.

It is likely that Tosun will make his debut in the Premier League next week against Premier League rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
