Everton look to take on Watford this Saturday in what proves to be a thrilling game. Both teams would greatly appreciate the three points for different reasons. Everton, looking to break out of the relegation zone and Watford, looking to secure a spot in Europe.

Form

The Toffees have not had a great start to the season by any means. They have begun with six losses, two draws and two wins. Albeit they did play 4 top 6 teams,  it is no excuse to concede ten goals in the first five matches. Their poor run of form extended to Europe, the Toffees have lost 3 out of their first 4 Europa League matches; they drew 2-2 with Apollon Limassol, lost 3-0 to Atalanta, and lost twice to Lyon. Everton has the talent in their team to win, however the star players are struggling to gel together and their performances have been sub par.

Watford, on the other hand, have had a great start to the season. Marquee results being their draw with 3-3 draw with Liverpool and their victory over Arsenal 2-1. Marco Silva has been thriving ever since he joined Watford and has managed to get them to 8th place after the opening 10 games.

Team News

Everton’s has a couple of injured players that could have made the impact, Ross Barkley a talented, young, strong central attacking midfielder; ruled out in August with a hamstring injury. Although they have a replacement in Gylfi Sigurðsson. Other injured players could be the difference: Seamus Coleman, out with a fractured leg; Cuco Martina, out with an injured head; Funes Mori, out with a Knee-OP. These players will all be missing against the Hornets this Saturday.

Watford have many injured and suspended players, some potential game changers include: Stefano Okaka, who is suspended for this fixture. Isaac Success, Younes Kaboul, Sebastian Prödl, Nathaniel Chalobah, are all injured. These are significant blows in the line-up for Watford. They will suffer massively from this, and it could potentially change the course of the game.

Prediction

It seems evident that Watford will secure the 3 points, although it is an away match, Everton have just not been turning up to games this season, with any intent of intent. Both sides need this win, Everton has a chance to exit the relegation zone; Marco Silva’s Watford has an opportunity to get into the Europa League spot.
