He added further:
“The biggest difference I’ve noticed is the quality of the players around me. Luis Enrique also gives us a lot of freedom, and that makes a big difference. PSG is the best team in the world. The quality of the players and the manager gives me confidence; Luis Enrique is like a football father to me.”
Unfortunately, Barça fans took his utterance in another light, and were a bit hurt. It is thought Torres “used” the Catalan club as a stepping stone to sign a deal with PSG, given the fact that PSG have begun a dominant spell in Europe in recent years.
However, it should not be forgotten that Torres’s goal threat was evident in his stint at Barcelona. The forward made 207 appearances for Barça and netted 65 goals, 41 of which were scored in La Liga. The Spanish footballer also provided 23 assists in his stay at Barça.
However, with Robert Lewandowski leaving Barça and Torres missing sitters of which analysts and fans have hugely criticised the forward for, Barça deemed it fit to secure the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund and Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
