Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe continues to be heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. The 22-year-old superstar has long been admired by the Bernabeu hierarchy and he is now considered as Real Madrid’s sole transfer target this summer.
Mbappe is in the last year of his contract and all efforts made by the Ligue 1 giants to get him to renew has proven abortive.

Mbappe Rumours Continue
The reasons why Mbappe is yet to pen down a new deal remains unclear and the attacker himself has continued to be vagued when quizzed about issues relating to his future.
Speaking to Paris Saint-Germain’s official club magazine last Tuesday he said: “my biggest dream is to win the Champions League with PSG, that would be fantastic. But winning another World Cup would be great too.”
PSG and Mbappe at a Contractual Stalemate
The La Liga giants have been longtime admirers of Mbappe and have tried to sign him in the past. “Mbappe was almost signed for Real Madrid but he went to Monaco,” Zidane said when the youngster signed for the Ligue 1 side. “We know he is very good and at his age, he is doing something fantastic.”
It is not unreasonable to think that Mbappe feels the same way about Real Madrid too as demonstrated when he was invited to visit Los Blancos’ Valdebebas training ground at age 14. The French attacker has never hidden his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo. “He is a Real Madrid fan and his idol is Cristiano Ronaldo,” Mbappe’s father once told France Football.
PSG Are Building An Army
The addition of former Real Madrid legend, Sergio Ramos speaks volumes. High profile players including Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnaruma and Georginio Wijnaldum were also brought in. The French club is obsessed with winning the Champions League and will be needing every weapon in their arsenal to do so. With Mbappe representing a big gun, it is no wonder that they are adamant about him leaving.
How Will a Potential Addition of Lionel Messi to PSG Ranks Affect Mbappe’a Situation?.
After the bombshell that Lionel Messi was not going to continue as a Barcelona player broke out on Friday, they have been reports that the Argentine is closed to joining the club from Paris. PSG don’t want to lose Mbappe and are said to be exploring every move that will keep the Frenchman at the club.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid is reportedly expecting a call from PSG. It is believed that if Messi does arrive in the French capital then it is likely someone will need to leave and at the moment only Mbappe appears willing to depart this summer.
Real Madrid Have Been Working Hard to Be Able to Afford Mbappe
Real Madrid has been busy so far in the transfer market albeit with main departures. The Spanish giants are said to be actively seeking means to free up funds to pursue Mbappe’s signature. Raphael Varane’s transfer to Manchester United might not be the last that the Bernabeu faithful will witness this summer, with Marca reporting on Saturday that Real Madrid directors consider the door to be open for almost all players at the club case of an acceptable offer being presented.
Mbappe, PSG and Real Madrid are in a situation similar to a love triangle.
PSG does not want Mbappe to leave this summer and has reportedly been willing to let him leave for free next season instead. Mbappe’s reluctance to renew surely indicates that he wants to leave sooner rather than later. Real Madrid is reportedly willing to pay over £150 million for a player that has a year left on his contract if he becomes available.
With matters sure to continue heating up as the beginning of the new season approaches, fans continue to wonder how the love triangle of Mbappe, PSG and Real Madrid ends.
