Liverpool player signings demonstrate a wonderful Transfer Window this summer, having already roped in Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez. The Reds will once again go into the next season as the Premier League title favorites as well as the defending champions.
In this article, you can read more as we will try to speculate how the upcoming season might pan out for three of Liverpool’s new signings : Wirtz, Frimpong and Ekitike. Let us get on with it:
#1. Florian Wirtz
Wirtz is definitely the marquee signing of the season, having cost the the Reds a whopping 116.5 million GBP. The 22-year-old German sensation can play as the No. 10 as well as the left winger. Wirtz has played as the false nine as well in a recent friendly with AC Milan. However, that was probably an experiment only on the part of Arne Slot.
Wirtz is an adroit passer and can play frequent one-twos with his fellow attackers in the team. By signing him, the Reds have decided to do something that they had never done in their years of resurgence under Jurgen Klopp and also the triumphant debut season of Slot, which is to play with a No. 10 in the team.
Liverpool are going to play with a 4-2-3-1 in all probability with Wirtz as the No. 10 and Ekitike as the centre-forward. Wirtz will be expected to combine effectively with Ekitike to break through the opposition defences. The German did collaborate with Mohamed Salah really well in the friendly against Milan.
He has had 57 goals and more than 60 assists in almost 200 matches for his previous club, Bayer Leverkusen. There is no reason why he cannot have 25-30 goal involvements (goals + assists) for the Reds next season.
#2. Jeremie Frimpong
After the much acrimonious departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool roped in Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. The 24-year-old Dutch right-back has a very good right foot, just like his predecessor at Anfield. Frimpong is a dead-ball expert as well, and has scored 30 goals in 190 matches for Leverkusen.
He has good crossing ability as well, and Liverpool will need that in order to make up for Alexander-Arnold’s absence. With the Reds having a very good attack, Frimpong’s ability to play crosses or even short passes into the box from the flank will prove to be crucial. His defensive abilities will also be tested more seriously in Premier League. However, the Dutchman is a new Liverpool player who should be able to do a fine job.
#3. Hugo Ekitike
Compared with the previous two players, Ekitike, yet another import from Bundesliga, has shone for a lesser duration. In fact, he had his breakthrough season for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2024/25, which saw the Frenchman have 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches.
Ekitike’s hold-up and link-up play are top notch and he should be able to do much work off the ball, just like Roberto Firmino used to for Klopp’s Liverpool. He is a Liverpool player who should be able to add a lethal edge to the Reds’ attack, with players like Wirtz and Salah alongside him. It should not be beyond him to reach 20 goals for Liverpool next season.
