Last month, an Independent Panel reportedly found Manchester City guilty of 114 out of 115 charges, most of which involve the English giant breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, engaging in “sham” contracts, and refusing to cooperate with the Premier League’s investigation into the breach. The club, however, plans to appeal, and it turns out Manchester City’s appeal evidence is said to be “irrefutable”.
The one-time UEFA Champions League winners believe the Independent Panel reached a false judgement without considering the club’s bank statements and credible testimony from 24 witnesses. This being the case, Manchester City’s appeal evidence consists of emails, government letters, including a ruling in Manchester City FC v. UEFA [CAS 2020/A/6785] from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), delivered in 2020.
In that case, UEFA fined the Cityzens with the sum of €30 million, alongside a two-year ban from European football. UEFA alleged that City were in breach of Article 56 of the Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations. Additionally, it was reported that the eight-time Premier League champions failed to cooperate with UEFA’s investigation, as it relates to the breach.
City, however, appealed UEFA’s decision to CAS. On appeal, it was ruled that the club’s owners weren’t sponsoring the club, and that UEFA had failed to provide irrefutable evidence showing how City’s owners illegally participated in funding the club. This flows as one of Manchester City’s appeal evidence, and the club’s legal team hope to heavily rely on it.
The Ruling Of The Independent Panel: Manchester City’s Appeal Evidence
The Cityzens believe the failure of the Independent Panel to take into consideration the evidence presented by the club amounts to a miscarriage of justice. The club states the panel made some “fundamental errors” when it assessed the case the Premier League presented before it.
The evidence the Premier League presented had to do with leaked emails. There was, however, no direct witness testimony to corroborate the evidence. City’s stance, therefore, is that the panel should have entered judgment in favour of the Manchester club. This being the case, Manchester City’s appeal evidence will seek to tilt the judgement of the appeal tribunal into ordering a retrial, a full or partial acquittal.
Manchester City’s Appeal Evidence: Enzo Maresca
Due to the ongoing case involving the Cityzens and the Premier League, there has been so much “noise” from rival fans. When asked about City’s proven 114 charges, City’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, reported that he trusts the club’s management and is only focused on things he can control.
In his words:
“I don’t need people from outside the club to understand more about the situation. The club explained to me the situation, so the situation is very clear. And I trust the club 100%; I trust the people that run the club; this is the reason why I joined.”
On Monday, October 19, City could be expecting their sanction, in respect of the proven breaches for which the Premier League charged them.

Manchester City’s Appeal Evidence: The Cityzens Remain Top Of Their Game In Business And Football
There’s no doubt City’s alleged and proven 114 breaches of the FFP have made the news in recent weeks. However, if they were to be stripped of the titles they won, it would be too harsh.
This is because Manchester City do good business, and it can be seen from the players they sign. For instance, Manchester United splashed the cash in signing Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion, Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Tynan Thompson from Tottenham Hotspur in the last summer transfer window. Yet, they’ve only bagged one win out of seven games in the Premier League this season.
Within the past four years, Liverpool has signed Alexander Isak, Bradley Barcola, Jeremy Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, as well as Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. Still, the Merseyside club has a single Premier League trophy to show for its over £400 million worth of signings.
Arsenal and Chelsea aren’t left out: the signing of Victor Gyökeres, Eberechi Eze, Martin Zubimendi, Timo Werner, Christopher Nkunku, and Mykhailo Mudryk didn’t go as expected.
Extra Time Talk
It’s predicted that Manchester City’s appeal evidence will be able to put an end to the saga. Perhaps the appeal tribunal may consider Manchester City’s appeal evidence and rule in favour of the Manchester club.
