Manchester United eyeing Ibrahim Sangaré as Frankie de Jong’s alternative-report

Manchester United are on the lookout for a defensive midfielder this summer. According to Sky Sports, Ibrahim Sangaré has emerged as the latest candidate to take over the midfield duties for next season. Manchester United is undergoing a midfield revamp, and players like Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard already have been offloaded.

Ibrahim Sangaré is tipped to move to Premier League this season

Apparently, new manager Erik tan Hag is looking to sign a defensive midfielder at Old Trafford, and Barcelona man Frenkie de Jong is his top choice. Although the Dutch midfielder is reportedly unwilling to join the Red Devils, the board is now considering other options.

Manchester United needs a defensive midfielder who can press relentlessly and help the team win back possession. There have been links to Rúben Neves, Youri Tielemans, and Yves Bissouma with a move to Theatre of Dreams in the past. But Ibrahim Sangaré could be a cheaper option.

Sangare’s contract reportedly contains a release clause worth £30 million. The player would be a real steal at that price. Meanwhile, United’s arch-rivals Chelsea is also keeping an eye on the situation and are willing to lure him to Stamford Bridge.

The PSV star had a very good season in the Eredivisie last season. He made 29 appearances playing in the number six position. The Ivory Coast midfielder could instantly fill Matic’s void at Old Trafford and would inject much-needed adrenaline into the squad.
