Newcastle United were able to head into the October 2025 international break on the back of a compelling 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
However, Newcastle injuries are increasing, and after their 4-0 thrashing of Union SG in the UEFA Champions League, Eddie Howe gave some damning updates on the Newcastle United injuries of Tino Livramento and Yoane Wissa.
Eddie Howe Reveals Newcastle Injuries for Tino Livramento and Yoane Wissa
The Newcastle United boss has confirmed that defender Tino Livramento has now joined up to be part of the Newcastle injuries list. Livramento had to be substituted in the game against Arsenal, and he has ended up injuring his knee ligament, which will keep him out of action for at least two months of action.
Howe confirmed the Tino Livramento injury and his situation, stating: “He went to see a specialist a couple of days ago as the scan initially looked better than we thought it was. He has confirmed it is looking like an eight-week injury, which is a blow given our schedule, but it is looking better than what we initially feared.”
However, it’s not just Tino Livramento who is a major name regarding the Newcastle injuries. That is because the Magpies’ fans are yet to even see their 2025 summer window signing, Yoane Wissa, in action for the club, as the striker is recovering from an injury he sustained right after joining Newcastle.
Eddie Howe has revealed a setback in Wissa’s hopes of returning from his injury, claiming that the DR Congo forward will not be able to play until after October.
Giving the latest update on Yoane Wissa, the Newcastle United manager claimed: “Yoane saw a specialist again yesterday for a check-up on his knee. We probably think now it’ll be eight weeks rather than six from the point of the injury. It’s no recurrence or problem, just slightly longer.”

How Will The Newcastle Injuries Impact Eddie Howe’s Plans?
Eddie Howe has seen his headaches amplify even more after learning of the injury setbacks for Tino Livramento and Yoane Wissa. However, what he can only do is march on with whatever is at his disposal at this moment.
Livramento’s injury setback means that the English gaffer is probably going to need Dan Burn to continue playing in the left-back role, potentially being alternated with Lewis Hall in that position.
However, a more direct replacement for Livramento would be the experienced Kieran Trippier, who needs to maintain his high energy levels to thrive in that right-back position. Wissa’s absence from Newcastle United means that Howe will continue to hope that Nick Woltemade is able to continue his impressive work in the centre-forward role.
Woltemade, who has scored three goals in six appearances for Newcastle United so far, has adapted himself to Howe’s system really well and is excelling as the bullish no.9 option and acting as Alexander Isak’s replacement too.
With the Yoane Wissa injury having the DRC player miss at least five more matches and Livramento being out until the end of December, Eddie Howe will hope the Newcastle injuries do not pile up and impact his side’s chase to remain among the top places in the Premier League and Champions League.
