Potential Newcastle Signings as Takeover Imminent

Newcastle United fans have been given fresh hope after it was revealed on Wednesday night that a takeover from a Saudi-led consortium is close to completion. Newcastle currently sit 19th in the Premier League and looked set to be involved in a season-long relegation battle. However, with their potential new owners being the richest in the league, potential Newcastle signings will give the club new hope. We look at some players who are out of favor at big clubs as well as some who are ready to move to a big club to find out who should become a Newcastle signing in January.

Potential Newcastle Signings as Takeover Imminent

Stars Ready To Excite Newcastle Fans

Phillippe Coutinho

A player who was considered one of the world’s best before he left the Premier League, Phillippe Coutinho needs a return to England to reignite his career. Barcelona was desperately trying to offload Coutinho in the summer but was unable to find a buyer. Despite this, the Brazilian hasn’t been frozen out by manager Ronald Koeman. He’s still started 3 matches this season as Barcelona look to maintain his value ahead of January.

Coutinho is best played in attacking midfield but can also play on the left wing meaning Newcastle will see a smaller drop in quality when Allan Saint-Maximin is injured. Coutinho will provide Newcastle with some much-needed creativity, their most assists last season came from Callum Wilson with just 5. He may allow Saint-Maximin to get on the scoresheet more as well. For all his creativity the Frenchman scored just 3 league goals last season. It’s clear Newcastle needs more attacking talent so the new owners would be missing out if they didn’t make Coutinho their first Newcastle signing.

Donny Van De Beek

If the money can’t convince Coutinho to involve himself in a relegation battle, Newcastle should look no further than Donny van de Beek to solve their attacking midfield problem. The Dutchman has struggled for game time at Manchester United but registered 13 goal contributions in his last season at Ajax. He’s also much younger than Coutinho so is someone Newcastle could build their midfield around. He would benefit the squad in a similar way to Coutinho but is also much better defensively, which helps with a struggling side like Newcastle. With Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, and now Jesse Lingard ahead of him in United’s pecking order, Van de Beek needs to leave to save his career. After missing Euro 2020 through injury Van de Beek may need to become a Newcastle signing to make Hollands World Cup squad.

Karim Adeyemi

Karim Adeyemi has been subjected to interest by some of Europe’s top clubs according to Sky Germany. The 19-year-old German striker has scored 8 goals in just 10 games for Red Bull Salzburg so far this season and is ready for a move to a big league. With Bayern Munich among those interested, Newcastle will have to offer a substantial wage package to lure Adeyemi to Tyneside. Current striker Callum Wilson is one of Newcastle’s better players but Adeyemi is much younger and could be one of the world’s best so if the opportunity presents Newcastle must sign him. An attack of Adeyemi and Saint-Maximin will help Newcastle much more than playing Saint-Maximin as a lone striker when Wilson is out. If Adeyemi becomes a Newcastle signing, he’ll fire them to safety and beyond.

Kylian Mbappe

This may seem like a very unrealistic transfer but there are some variables that make this transfer a small possibility. It’s well known by now Mbappe wants to leave PSG, he asked to leave last summer and Real Madrid offered 200 million euros for the Frenchmen but PSG refused to let him leave. Mbappe’s contract also expires in the summer and if he’s definitely not renewing PSG may finally look to cash in.

Newcastle will know if they can sign Mbappe they become a much more attractive destination for other players so they’ll be no limit on the money they’ll spend to make Mbappe theirs. Now they’ve just got to convince Mbappe that he can achieve his career goals at Newcastle. They’ll need to show him an attractive plan for the future which needs to include other signings, better training facilities, a new world-class coach. If this transfer gets completed, the football world will explode

Gareth Bale

Another huge name, Gareth Bale’s huge wages mean he’s been unable to find a permanent move away from Real Madrid despite being unwanted for years. Newcastle United presents a solution to that problem. They can pay Bale whatever he wants and won’t need to pay a fee as Bale’s contract is up in the summer. Bale is still a dangerous Premier League player, he scored 11 goals in 20 starts for Spurs last season. A front three of him Saint-Maximin and Wilson will give the Premier Leagues’ best defences a tough time. Newcastle’s new owners will be looking for a marquee name who still has some talent and Bale is exactly that.
