Real Madrid Set Targets For The Summer

The winter transfer window is finally here. Although not much usually happens in the winter this time it is different. Many players have contracts expiring this summer and they are able to negotiate with their new club in the winter. The highlight player of this transfer window would certainly be Kylian Mbappe who now has the freedom of negotiating with Real Madrid. Alongside Mbappe, Real Madrid have set targets for the summer with the Spanish giants are looking to seal some deals now for the players to arrive in Summer.

Real Madrid Set Targets For The Summer

Erling Haaland

The Norwegian goal machine is a target for all clubs and not just Real Madrid. His dazzling record with Dortmund is certainly something that does not occur everyday. Since arriving in January of 2020 he has recorded 76 goals in 74 games with the German team. This record is something akin to the “Messi and Ronaldo” levels.

Although Haalands’ contract is not ending this Summer Real Madrid would like to have him alongside Mbappe next season. This duo, alongside other players,  could be the beginning of a scary version of Real Madrid. Haaland would certainly add something special to Madrid. He has a terrific attribute of scoring from the most minimal of chances and from nearly everywhere inside the box. He is good with both feet and his height qualifies him to be a good player in air. Add to that the potential signing of Haaland who is one of the fastest strikers in Europe. With his speed and superb physique alongside his various number of attributes, he can be the main striker for Madrid in the coming years.

One problem associated with any arrival of Haaland is his transfer fee and salary. Dortmund will ask for a huge number possibly reaching 150+ million Euros and with the highly possible arrival of Mbappe, Madrid could face some issues with money when it comes to signing Haaland. Although Mbappe would be joining for free, his salary would be one of the largest in Europe making signing Haaland a potential problem.

Antonio Rudiger

The 28-year-old German centre back has been doing great for Chelsea since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and his hard work and development under Tuchel paid off last season as they ended it by winning the Champions League. This lead him to reserve a spot in the German national team for Euros 2021. His incredible mindset during the game made him the main man in Chelseas’ defensive line this season. Chelsea currently sit in second place behind Manchester City and they managed to qualify for the next round of the Champions League to face Lille.

Rudiger has his contract ending in the Summer and until now he has not signed a new deal with Chelsea. Reports link him with Real Madrid as possibly a new centre back for the team. Although some reports mentioned that Madrid have withdrawn from the idea of signing Rudiger it is not yet clear to whether or not he is joining.

There may be one issue with this transfer happening. Rudiger improved a lot and showed how class he is when playing in a formation with three at the back. In this formation, Rudiger was able to sometimes push forward and act as a midfield player to retrieve the ball. With Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti, they depend on two centre backs instead of one. In this case, we may see a lesser version of Rudiger. In addition, Real Madrid were able to retrieve the “world class” form of Brazilian centre back Eder Militao. The Brazilian, alongside David Alaba, have been considered as one of the best defensive partnerships this season. The arrival of Rudiger could change that, unless Alaba is moved to the left back position. However, this would mean that Ferland Mendy could suffer from less play time and that would certainly make him unhappy since he is in good form this seaosn.

Overall, the idea of Rudiger joining Madrid sounds wonderful until looking at it in detail.

Kylian Mbappe- The Closest Target For The Summer

The Mbappe saga continues for almost the third year. However this time things have changed. Mbappe’s contract ends this summer meaning that he is able to negotiate with Real Madrid this winter in order to arrive in the summer.  The french wonder kid has been nothing but superb for club PSG and his country France. Goals here and there, alongside some assists, Mbappe has been the main man for both club and country in the last three years and at the age of only 23.

It is true Mbappe is 23 however, he has achieved what some older players couldn’t. World Cup winner at 19, four time Ligue 1 winner, 150+ goals and the records go on. He has gained enough experience to play in a team as big as Real Madrid. He has the technique, speed, strength and goal sense to be able to become Madrids’ main man in the upcoming years.

The rumors and news on Mbappe to Madrid have been going on for some time and the player himself shows interest in Madrid. PSG previously rejected multiple offers from Madrid but now Mbappe is free to talk to Madrid and agreeing personal terms as his contract with PSG is ending this summer.

Will Mbappe move to Madrid or will PSG be able to convince him after the arrival of Lionel Messi and possibly Zinedine Zidane as new manager next season? It is only appropriate to wait and see what will happen.
