Tottenham Battle for Top Four as Thomas Tuchel Looks to Complete Treble over Antonio Conte

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Stamford Bridge as they take on Chelsea in a Premier League encounter on January 23, 2021. Prior to the game, Chelsea are third on the league table with 44 points in 23 matches played while Spurs are fifth with 36 points from 19 matches. Having played lesser number of games than other teams above them, Spurs have a very realistic chance of finishing in the Top 4 and beating Chelsea in the upcoming game will be a big boost.

Will Conte’s Unbeaten League Run with Spurs Continue When They Face Chelsea?

Spurs striker Harry Kane believe the players are fortunate to be coached by Antonio Conte and here is what he said concerning the Italian manager in an interview with Sky Sports;

“He’s one of the best managers in the world. We’ve not really reached the heights we’ve wanted to as a club over the last couple of years. It’s a big opportunity now to take advantage of what we’ve got.He’s a manager that demands a lot. He’s doing everything he can and as players we’ve responded really well to him and everyone’s working as hard as possible to get success. That’s the ultimate goal for everyone here at the club.”

Conte was appointed Spurs manager on November 2, 2021, following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo. And ever since he took over, there has been a noticeable improvement in the team’s performance, as Spurs are yet to lose a league game, having recorded six wins and three draws in nine matches.

However, they lost twice to Chelsea in the 2021/22 EFL Cup semi-final encounter. The first leg was played at Stamford Bridge on 5 January 2021 and Spurs lost 2-0 to Chelsea. Then they hosted Chelsea in the return leg on 12 January 2021 and lost 1-0, thus ensuring Chelsea’s qualification to the final.

Just like he recorded three successive wins over Pep Guardiola when he took over as Chelsea manager in the 2020/21 season, Thomas Tuchel will hope to complete a treble over Conte when Chelsea and Spurs clash in the Premier League on January 23, 2021.
