Tottenham Show Genuine Interest In ‘Top’ Premier League Winger To Light Up Their Attack

Tottenham Hotspur have moved into a brand new era after deciding to sack Ange Postecoglou following the end of the 2024/25 season and replace him with Thomas Frank.

Despite winning the UEFA Europa League title last season, Postecoglou was sacked for Spurs’ embarrassing Premier League campaign as they look to create a squad strong enough to compete for a top-4 place in the league next season. Amidst Spurs’ search for new players, they seem to have a proper interest in signing talented winger Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United.

How Much Would Tottenham Hotspur Need To Pay For Mohammed Kudus?

The Lilywhites are on the hunt to sign a new winger to fire up their attacking line and it’s now being reported that the North London giants have a genuine interest in signing Kudus and that he remains high on their transfer wishlist for potential winger signings for the summer. Spurs are claimed to have taken part in initial contacts with the Ghana winger’s agents, as they realize some other clubs are also involved in the race to sign the 24-year-old.

Kudus is reported to be open to speaking to Spurs about a possible summer switch. It’s also being reported that although the West Ham winger has a £85 million release clause, that only runs for the first 10 days of July (2025) and that the Lilywhites are optimistic they can sign him for a lower amount.

Even though Spurs are also rumored to have interest in Antoine Semenyo and Eberechi Eze, there is a feeling that Kudus is their likeliest signing to improve the wide areas for Thomas Frank. Interestingly, West Ham are also reportedly willing to sell Kudus as they aspire to generate funds to make key signings to improve Graham Potter’s squad.

Can Mohammed Kudus Improve Tottenham’s Attacking Prospects?

The 24-year-old winger enjoyed a relatively solid campaign in the 2024/25 season with West Ham United, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 32 games. He actually scored against Spurs in a league game last season, before also getting sent off in the 4-1 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Kudus, however, showcased admirable versatility for the Hammers last season, playing as a right winger, left winger, attacking midfielder and also a centre-forward for Graham Potter’s side.

Mohammed Kudus might not have outscored the majority of Spurs players in the 2024/25 season, but his numbers prove that he can be a proactive asset for Thomas Frank’s side. The 24-year-old averaged 2.61 shot attempts and 3.72 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign. Not only that, but he also proved his quality in getting the ball into the danger areas by averaging 3.41 progressive carries and 2.75 progressive passes per 90, being a real livewire who can carry the ball to danger areas and torment defenders with his speed.

The Ghana international actually managed to average more progressive passes and shot attempts than Spurs’ 2024/25 top scorer Brennan Johnson (2.12 shots and 2.69 progressive passes per 90) and Dominic Solanke (2.28 shots and 2.10 progressive passes per 90). Considering he can play both as a winger and striker with ease, Kudus can definitely give both a run for their money at Spurs. He can also slot into either of the two wide positions depending on Spurs’ needs, adding more creativity, counter-attacking potential and goalscoring threat in their frontline.

Mohammed Kudus has earned a lot of praise for his impact at West Ham, with his teammate Aaron Cresswell having a lot of praise for the versatile forward. Cresswell stated about Kudus in 2024, stating: “I’ve just trained with him and you don’t want to go anywhere near him. He’s a top, top talent and I think we haven’t seen the best of him yet.” Kudus can add more versatility and explosiveness to Spurs’ frontline, but it remains to be seen if the Lilywhites can get a deal done.
