The Eberechi Eze form for the first few months of the 2026/27 season has been particularly worrying, as the Arsenal attacking midfielder is just not able to perform at the level he’s expected to.

The poor Eberechi Eze form has seen the Englishman struggle in front of goal and not have that similar inspired nature that he showed in his debut campaign with the Gunners since joining from Crystal Palace.

Eze has not been able to score a single goal in nine appearances (for club and country) so far, marking a surprising drought that has made many fans worried about the Eberechi Eze form. It’s even caused him to fall out of favour in terms of being considered a possible starting option for Arsenal or England, and the Eberechi Eze form is also frustrating many fans.

Amidst this, there need to be certain changes to Eze’s playing style and how he’s utilised in matches in order to get the best out of him.

What Is Causing the Concerning Eberechi Eze Form?

The likely reason for the poor Eberechi Eze form at the start of the 2026/27 season is that it doesn’t seem like he’s being used in his natural position by either Mikel Arteta at Arsenal or Thomas Tuchel for England.

At Arsenal, the Englishman has been forced to play out wide in the left-wing role in the majority of matches this season after the Gunners failed to sign Vinicius Jr or find an ideal replacement for the departed Gabriel Martinelli.

Because the promising new signing Christos Tzolis needs resting periods, Eze is being used to play out wide, and that is not allowing him to dictate things as well as he’d like in his team’s attacking style.

It is likely that the Eberechi Eze form is mostly because he continues to be played out of his natural position. The Englishman has even been played in the midfield pivot at times, and he can hardly get things done from a much deeper area in his side’s midfield.

What Can Help Improve the Eberechi Eze Form?

The Eberechi Eze form can only improve if he is played in his natural position, which can definitely help the midfielder regain the confidence he’s so badly missing right now.

The Arsenal man has only managed one assist in his nine appearances so far this season and zero goals to his name. A big reason is that he’s not even being able to get into the danger zones as frequently as he does when playing as a No.1o.

Last season, Eze was able to get 11 goal contributions (eight goals, three assists) out of his overall 16 goal contributions when playing in that No.10 position for Arsenal. In fact, the Englishman has managed 68 goal contributions (44 goals, 24 assists) in 184 appearances as an attacking midfielder across his career. That itself proves that the Eberechi Eze form can improve if he’s playing just behind the striker as a No.10.

That can enable Eze to make more late runs into the box to get at the end of chances, or link up quickly with teammates to create big chances. Hence, it’s on the Arsenal and England set-up to try and find a way to fit him in that attacking midfielder role to get out more regular goal involvements out of him.

Extra Time Notes

The Eberechi Eze form has been particularly concerning at the beginning of the 2026/27 season, mostly because of how he’s failed to score any goals for Arsenal or England. However, a key reason behind the Englishman struggling to provide the goods in the attack is that he has not been able to play in his natural position yet.

Shifting him out wide to a left-wing or playing him in a No.8 position is badly impacting the Eberechi Eze form and causing him to come out without any major involvement. Hence, it’d be smarter for Eze to be shifted into a No.10 role so that he can be much closer to the goal and get into more goal-scoring areas, as doing that can definitely help improve the Eberechi Eze form.
