The Jonathan Burkardt form for Eintracht Frankfurt has fetched him a call-up to the German national team squad under Jurgen Klopp. The 26-year-old striker is expected to start for Germany in their Nations League match against Serbia on Thursday, October 1. Germany drew with the Netherlands in their first match and lost to Greece then.
The Jonathan Burkardt form has been quite impressive for his club so far this season. However, Germany continue to long for a proper No.9 for their national team.
Jonathan Burkardt Form for Frankfurt Makes Him Germany’s New Hope
The Jonathan Burkardt form for Eintracht Frankfurt has seen him score six goals in five matches so far. He scored 15 goals in 29 matches for Frankfurt last season, which means that he has 21 goals in 35 matches for them now.
Burkardt spent seven seasons at Mainz 05 prior to moving to Frankfurt and scored 45 goals in 144 matches for them. However, his goal-scoring frequency has increased consistently since joining Eintracht Frankfurt.
Burkardt earned his first international cap for Germany in 2024. However, he is yet to cement his place in the squad, much less the playing XI. He has played in six matches for Germany so far and is yet to score a goal for them.
He has a great chance of scoring his first goal on home soil against Serbia on Thursday, October 1. With a quality playmaker like Florian Wirtz behind him, Burkardt should get enough chances to end his goal-drought for the national team.
Burkardt is less than six feet tall, which means that his aerial presence against the tall Serbian centre-backs will not be very imposing. However, Wirtz can always provide him with quality ground passes to help him find the net for Die Mannschaft.
The Jonathan Burkardt form has proved that he is an opportunistic striker, and his opportunism is something that Klopp will be banking on. The German supporters will hope that he will be able to be the solution for Germany’s recent problems upfront.

Extra Time Notes
Germany have Kai Havertz and Deniz Undav as their two options upfront. However, Havertz is not a pure striker or a lethal finisher. He is also out injured now. Undav has a great scoring rate for the national team, but his form for club has not been that great.
Undav is yet to find the net for VfB Stuttgart in four matches this season so far. Hence, the current Jonathan Burkardt form has helped new manager Klopp select him in one of his two squads.
Germany have not had a genuine top-class striker since Miroslav Klose hung up his boots a decade ago. As a result, their performance in the recent major tournaments has suffered. If the Germans are to revive the glory days of old, they will need a quality striker upfront.
It remains to be seen whether Burkardt can become that man. As of now, he should focus on scoring his first international goal that will give him a lot of confidence. The Jonathan Burkardt form is, however, a good sign for the national team and should help his team put the disappointment of the defeat to Greece behind them.
