Barcelona and Juventus Make Move to Sign Out-of-Favour Arsenal Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Arsenal in January 2018 and has been quite impressive ever since moving to England, having scored 68 league goals in 128 appearances. However, his 2021/22 season has not been really impressive, as the Gabonese star’s output in terms of goals have been quite low, coupled with the fact that he was stripped of Arsenal’s captaincy in December 2021 over disciplinary issues and is yet to make an appearance for the club ever since.

Could Aubameyang Be on His Way out of North London?

Aubameyang could be on his way out of the club as two European giants in Barcelona and Juventus have approached Arsenal over the possibility of signing him. Barcelona, who are already close to signing Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore on a loan deal, also wish to land the Gabonese striker, as they look to strengthen their squad. Similarly, Juventus who have agreed a deal with Dusan Vlahovic, are also keen on bringing the 32-year old to Turin.

On whether or not Aubameyang is still needed at Arsenal, here is what Paul Merson said;

“With Aubameyang, Arsenal need to have a sit-down meeting with him.

“You have seen it before where players have just said, that’s it. He got hung out to dry and he got binned. It could have all been sorted out behind the scenes. There’s a lot to this story and probably it could have been handled better on both sides, but now, it needs to get sorted out. For me, Aubameyang, on his day, is still one of Arsenal’s best players.”

Merson continued;

“A lot has gone on, that is for sure, but now, with the struggles in the transfer market, it looks like Arteta might have to go back to Aubameyang with his tail between his legs and ask: ‘Have you got another six months for us please?’

“Then they may be able to sort something out after that when the summer transfer window opens.”

Will Aubameyang be on his way to Italy or Spain or will he remain in England?
