Bayern Munich’s resilience has taken them a long way. There is no question that PSG’s 5-4 victory over Bayern Munich in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg was a true celebration of football, even if the Bavarians will feel hard done by that they lost such a game that didn’t really deserve a loser.
Yet, in the 59th minute, PSG were 5-2 up, and Bayern seemed dead and buried in the tie. Even so, the Bundesliga champions pulled back two goals, making a complete comeback in the second leg a realistic possibility, and Bayern Munich’s resilience has been a major theme throughout this remarkable season so far.
This says a lot about the spirit of Vincent Kompany’s team and what has made them one of the best teams in Europe.
Bayern Munich’s Resilience: The Best Comeback Team In The Bundesliga
In their domestic league, the Bavarians have been down 13 times this season.
They came back to win on eight of those occasions, while having drawn four of those matches and losing just the one domestic game so far, in the regional derby of sorts against FC Augsburg.
That gave them 28 points from losing positions in the league.
Not only is that a crucial reason why the Bavarians have already wrapped up the Bundesliga title, but it also shows how much the side can handle adversity, a key character trait of a team in search of history.
Bayern Munich’s resilience shows how healthy the team spirit is and how good the atmosphere in the dressing room must be. These are things that are so vital for a team that are seeking to win three major competitions this season.

Bayern Munich’s Resilience: The Season’s Biggest League Comebacks For Bayern
Some big comebacks this term were a 6-2 win against SC Freiburg after having gone down 2-0 early on in the match.
Then, there was the legendary 3-2 comeback recently in the reverse fixture against Freiburg, when the Bavarians went 2-0 behind in the 71st minute, before pulling one back in the 82nd to then go on and win the game with two goals in added time.
The biggest comeback so far this Bundesliga season, however, was last weekend’s 4-3 victory over Mainz 05, after the team had been down 3-0 at halftime.
Other results that deserve mentioning in this category and prove Bayern Munich’s resilience were the 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen away from home, when the Bavarians rallied to earn a point with nine men.
They also showed determination in the First Round of the German Cup against Wehen Wiesbaden, when, despite getting pegged back level after having been 2-0 up and despite Harry Kane having missed a penalty after that, the number nine provided the winner before extra time would have been necessary.
All of these results not only show Bayern Munich’s resilience this season, but they also set them up for the 4-3 win at home to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, when they came from behind three times, and ultimately, that also set them up for the partial comeback against PSG mentioned at the start of this piece.
These results above everything else show the immense hunger for success that this amazing Bayern Munich side has.
