Frank Lampard is set to become Everton’s next manager, following the dismissal of Rafael Benitez in January 2022. The 43-year old, who had previously managed Derby County and Chelsea, was selected ahead of Vitor Pereira and Duncan Ferguson for the job and will return to the Premier League after over a year since he was sacked as Chelsea manager. Lampard could be under pressure to produce results, as Everton are just four points above the relegation zone and he needs to get things done as quickly as possible. The former Chelsea midfielder will have to get the players firing again, as he looks to make one or two additions before the January transfer window closes.
Donny Van de Beek to Everton Deal Could Happen as Frank Lampard Shows Interest in the Dutchman
Will Everton Get Donny Van de Beek Firing Again?
Out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek, who has been linked with Crystal Palace could end up at Goodison Park, as Lampard has made the 24-year old Dutchman a top target, according to Fabrizio Romano. Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira still hopes to land the former Ajax star at Selhurst Park but maybe Lampard will beat him to it. Van de Beek has struggled for game time ever since joining Manchester United in 2020 and even after Ralf Rangnick took over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, there hasn’t been much difference. A move to Crystal Palace or Everton could see him get back to his best.
Lampard has another opportunity to make a name for himself in the Premier League, since he just could not live up to expectations at Stamford Bridge. Will he get it right this time at Goodison Park? Will Donny van de Beek be the perfect signing for him in his new managerial journey? How well will Lampard fare at the Everton job, which has seen the departure of two top managers in Carlo Ancelotti and Rafael Benitez in the space of eight months?
